“Amazing and consistent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2014

I have been visiting Puerto Viejo for 10 years and for most of these breakfast has been in Cafe Rico. It is the best coffee and the food is as good as you can get. Roger and Liza are wonderful people, very friendly and helpful. On our last visit for New Year we were fortunate to see lots of different birds and the tiny red frogs in the garden. Puerto Viejo wouldn't be the same without Cafe Rico. I recommend everyone should make a visit. Diane

“Brit owned Caribbean coffee shop - world's best breakfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2014

Cafe Rico is set on a quiet side road behind the main road in Puerto Viejo. Wall to wall books and Roger the Brit owner is a sweetheart. The Ana rosa is the best breakfast I've ever had - yummy. The cafe also does laundry and bike hire and fast wifi throughout and lovely locals who come by daily. Love, love, love this place. Thanks for looking after me Roger. Jazz

“Best Coffee in Puerto Viejo...and the breakfasts are damn good too!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2014

Coffee. Espresso. Thick and strong. Yeah!
Breakfasts are consistent and reliable. My favorite is the Ana Rosa Especial...handcut potatoes topped with cheese and a fried egg; with bacon, avocado and sweet fried plantains top it all off. Served in a banana leaf lined wooden bowl, this meal get ya through the day. For lighter fare, try the Power Boost: granola, yogurt and fruit, a hearty portion.
Now, surround yourself with lots of used books to buy/trade, local and tribal handcrafts for sale, and an always eclectic blend of patrons, a friendly staff, and you have just the right mix for the best breakfast eatery in town.

“Fantastic Coffee. Great Breakfasts. Calm surroundings. Lovely service.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014

Popped in her on a word of mouth recommendation. Very happy that I did. I have come here each morning for the granola/fruit/yoghurt breakfast. It's simple but high quality stuff. The coffee is of a really great quality and well prepared. Highly recommended!

Found this great restaurant/coffeehouse/bookstore/laundry by coincidence. And came back the day after!

Tip: Try the huevos rancheros
