The hotel is well located. But be aware to have no consideration from the owner. Cecilia is rude and have no manner. Dont stay there it dont worth it. I was supposed to stay several nights but after 2 nights i decided to move away in a hotel called namuwoki, little bit expensive but way more welcome. The room are dark the sheet very thin and no soft at all. If you search for a room just beside the beach youll be disapointed as well because is not swimmable at all.

A really well placed set of apartments. A short walk back up to the energetic little town of Puerto Viejo while being far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet of the Caribbean coast. Then a short walk (4 mins) the other way took you to Playa Cocles, a beach that looks more like paradise than you could even imagine. This beach was perfect for body surfing and generally splashing about in the waves. You can hire decent surfboards really cheap right there on the beach too. A big swell puts the waves in the intermediate to expert bracket though. With super high water temperatures of 29 degrees you wouldn't need to turn up with anything except a pair of shorts.

The apartment itself was well cleaned, and felt really nice. The breakfast bar was amazing and the pool was great to relax next to.

Hotel was ok. We had a huge room upstairs but would not say it was as clean as it should have been. The windows looking out to the ocean had not been cleaned in years. Owners and staff great. Pool nice. Location good for visiting the Jaguar Center which is why we were there. As we were upstairs we did need the air conditioner but it worked ok.

We stayed in a beachfront room on the ground floor which smelled terrible like mold. We had to sleep with air-condition and open windows because otherwise we couldn´t sleep. The bathroom is a disaster, small, dark, ugly, dirty, terrible and it wasn´t cleaned at all and this didn´t change during our stay. We paid in advance US $ 110.- per night and I think it was tooo much. For this amount I expect at least a clean bathroom. The refrigerator was dirty and moldy and we also meet cockroaches, ants and unknown insects even in the bed. The pool looked nice, but it was also dirty with cloudy water.
The breakfast was very basic and not tasteful. The staff was unfriendly and seemed to be very unmotivated. The silverware and the glasses were dirty, etc. etc...
Only the location is quite perfect but this isn´t enough to cover the rest. Never ever again!!!

Room Tip: BEtter search for other hotels.

Simple clean and friendly this is as good as it gets.....
Caribbean Style at its finest. The sound of the waves or the birds will wake you up.
Rooms simple and clean ..sheets are changing every 2 days,...air-condition, tv....this is a great option for groups of friends or families, because they have bigger apartments too...
Breakfrast-simple buffet ... lot of fruits...
Pool, sauna or turkish steam bath, internet...free Coffe in de reception all day ..... ;-)
Located a short distance, only 15 walking minutes from Downtown Puerto Viejo)....Just a few steps out of the room was the beach (not good for swimming) but at only 4 minutes walking (I recommend the beach-side jungle walk to the road), next to the hotel between forest and ocean you find one of the best beaches in Puerto viejo.
Tasos from the Greece is the manager and owner of hotel Agapi. Is the best a great person ...
Thank you for your hospitality Tasos..!!!
We will comeback soon !!!

My partner and I stayed 9 nights at the Agapi and had a great time. The hotel is located next to the sea along the path that runs seaside from town to Cocles beach. Stasio and Cecelia, the owners, are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is served in the open air dining area by the pool with a gorgeous view of the jungle and Caribbean. The fruit and juices are amazing. The pool is clean and refreshing and the cool water jacuzzi feels great on tired legs. The Sauna and Turkish steam bath are unexpected in the tropics but feel fantastic, especially at the end of a rainy day. We never felt crowded or bothered by guests or staff. The gardens are beautiful and the sound of the waves is so relaxing. The location is perfect, an easy walk down the path to town or the beach. The road side is well marked and there is parking if you have a car. The rooms are basic but clean (cleaned every day) and some have mini-refrigerators which are very handy. If you need something just ask.
