“Talk to the animals....”

Took my family to this trip. It is great value for money and the kids will love it. The rescue center takes in all animals (not just jaguars). In fact there were no jaguars at the center when we were there. The highlight is the interaction with the baby howler monkeys and sloths. The guide was knowledgeable and thorough. We were given ample time to interact with the animals (hold them, play with them etc.) My two kids, ages 12 and 9 loved the interaction, but also were interested in the snake and spider exhibits and the information about the history of the center and the work they do. This center is the only one that exists on the Carribiean side of Costa Rica and they provide a very valuable service to the community on a completely voluntary basis. The tours provide them with the money to care for the animals and run the reserve into which they release the animals when they are able to. It is well worth taking the tour and supporting their cause.

“Holy friendly monkeys, bat man!”

Great half day excursion for kids of all ages. Hope this place does not go the way of buttercup up the road in Cahuita but for now it is easy and accessible. Guides are committed and it shows. Tour is pretty informative. I suppose purists could quibble with the place but it is obvious that human encroachment (us, when we travel) poses new dangers to native critters and this is a humane response and good reminder of our footprint. The monkey shots (on our heads etc) migrated quickly to our facebook i.d. photos. Could there be a higher compliment.?

“Great Thing To Do With Kids”
Reviewed September 8, 2010

We went to the Jaguar Rescue Center and though it was amazing. They have howler monkeys, sloths, alligators, snakes, toucans... and the best part is you get to hold the monkeys and sloths. Our kids were in heaven.

The center focuses on rehabilitation and release, so it is also a great cause. It was fantastic.

“Wonderful interactive experience.”

If you love animals and want to support those who are rehabilitating injured or abandoned animals, this is the place for you. The team who works at the Jaguar Rescue is committed to educating visitors and the surrounding community about local wild life in a hands-on way that is respectful of the animals. You will be able to see a selection of local snakes, spiders, toucans, monkeys, sloths and other animals in a natural setting. A fantastically, rewarding experience.

“Excellent place to get close to the wildlife!”

What an amazing place and run by lovely people. We had monkeys sitting on our heads and cuddled baby sloths. Its run by a couple and purely funded by visitors so please go here and donate some money to an excellent cause -their monkey therapy is highly recommended, just be warned for them peeing!
