The rescue center is a wonderfull project who runs by amazing volenteers. They take injured animals and take care of them, helping them and make every effort to return them back to nature and live on their own in the wild.
We met tucans, sloths, caimans, deers, monkeys, owls and much more.
We had the tour with gieselle and she was sweet and interesting. You can see that the animals really attached to her and to the other volenteers.

Come to enjoy the incredible wildlife and support the great job that this program and it's volunteers do.
It's unfortunate that the animals have been injured or need to be here in the first place, but the staff do a fantastic job.
The monkey enclosure was a definite highlight.

The Jaguar Center is a very well run business. It is staffed with young, enthusiastic employees, who are eager to answer any question about any animal. Surprisingly, there are no jaguars there. As I understand it, a jaguar was rescued by a family and kept in or near their home. They then got the idea to expand their rescue, and their facilities, having had success with the jaguar. Animals housed there indigenous to Costa Rica include, but are not limited to, howler monkeys, sloths, toucans, and parrots. There is one cat there - the Tigrillo or the Margay Cat (I cannot remember which).

The monkey cage is particularly interesting because they actually let you go into the cage (don't try to touch or hold onto the small, most active one! He/she bites).

Most of the animals there, once rehabilitated from an injury, are encouraged to resume their lives in the jungle. There are a few exceptions. For example, there were some birds there that had their wings clipped and could no longer fly. They were not released. Another was a (deer), a doe that had become so pet-like that they could not let her on her own in the jungle.

I highly recommend this approximately 2-hour excursion - it is relatively inexpensive and a good way to spend the afternoon, particularly if you are traveling with children. The entrance fee goes back into the business, as do the proceeds from the crafts and souvenirs sold there. You can consider them donations to a great cause!

The staff is very friendly and they are keen to answer all your questions about the animals. The highlights of the tour were definitely watching the funny sloths close up hanging off their trees as well as the visit in the monkey cage.

A great value!! Very informative and educational. Very clean. Fun interacting with the various animals in both the cages and roaming the center. Great family activity. Many more animals that the name indicates. We will definitely return.
