Getting to hold the baby monkeys was one of the highlights of my trip. The staff and volunteers care very deeply for their babies, orphans, and injured animals. It was a pleasure to help support your cause.

Run by two dedicated people, offers a place for injured animals and wild animals adopted as pets.
Staffed mostly by volunteers, rehabilitates animals for release in the wild. Not government backed, relies on gifts and revenue generated by sightseers to stay open.

I was interested in seeing some local animals up close (especially a sloth!), so my husband and I rode our bikes to the center. It was a great tour, felt good about supporting the place, but I had no idea how much fun it would be to play with baby howler monkeys. As long as you don't mind getting your hair mussed up - they will scamper all over you. You can't touch all the animals - and it is important to not wear sunscreen or insect repellant - but i definitely enjoyed the experience.
