Surrounded by secondary rain forest the two El Arbol houses offer an experience very close to pure nature. I stayed for almost a week and during this time did not need to book any tour at the wildlife refuge: staying at the house, watching ans listening the environment from the porch, exploring the adjacencies and hiking on the rain forest trails around the houses leads to immediate encounters with an amazing diversity in fauna and flora. One only has to understand that hurry is the most counterproductive approach to spot all those secret live forms awaiting their discovery below every leave, behind every tree trunk, under every stone. I even spotted animals while using the indoor whirlpool (with panoramic windows) and during taking a shower... :-)
Marilyn and Jon, the dutch owners, live with their kids few steps apart and are highly relaxed, sympathetic and helpful guys.
Manzanillo, a quiet little town, is only 5 (car) minutes away and offers a beautiful sandy beach as well as a variety of restaurants and a supermarket to fill the jungle houses fridge.
Long story short:; El Arbol is definitely a place to come back!More
