We were staying in town in Puerto Viejo and the restaurant is just down the coast a little bit, so we planned out visit for an evening when we had rented a scooter. Pulled in and the owner sadly greeted us with the information that they were full and without reservations we would need to return another time. Surprised us a little because what we had read said reservations recommended during high season but we weren't there in high season.
Returned the next night and as we chatted with the owner again he revealed that they were short-staffed the night before and while he had more table available in their overflow area he didn't want to seat people and not be able to provide the quality he wants to maintain. We respected that and appreciated his integrity so points for that. The food was very good, although the pizza I had wasn't the best of the pizzas I had enjoyed during our trip. Having said that the house-made hot sauce condiment was outstanding and added a beautiful heat and flavour punch to the food - enough so that we bought a jar to bring home.
Would definitely return.
