We stayed at this hotel while on a trip to Puerto Viejo. We had to stop due to the terrible weather and were directed there by a friendly cab driver. The hotel actually looks quite nice from the outside with some very pretty palm roofs and white round buildings. The restaurant has a nice view to the ocean and the breakfast we were served was passable.

I would not however return there nor would I recommend this hotel unless it was the only one available. The rooms were musty and smelled of mold. The bathroom sink was cracked as was the commode. The closet was dank and smelled. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and I awoke with a sore back. During our stay the restaurants were occupied by wedding parties and were full, so we could not get a meal there. There was a loud party until well into the night. The staff were overwhelmed and not very helpful.

The front desk lady was not very welcoming and frankly didn't give a damn whether we checked in or left. She obviously didn't like her job and treated us like we were a big bother. The hotel is very poorly maintained and not comfortable. We got up early, ate breakfast and could not get out of there soon enough. We heaved a huge sigh of relief once we were on the road! What a joy to be out of such a terrible place!

Room Tip: Avoid this place unless you have not other choice.

This is a decent place to stay. The rooms are ok, beds a little hard and you get a little tube television. Personally the TV didn't matter to me because I was out at the pool or beach most of the time. The beach is about a 5 minute taxi ride.

The breakfast is complimentary but it mostly just consist of fruit and rice.

Downtown is about a 5 minute taxi ride and taxis are really cheap there. If you make it to downtown I recommend eating so home cook food at Black Star Line.

Hotel is in the mid-priced range. Booked it through www.vacationcity.com.
The property is one of very few hotels in the area. Limon and surroundings has been neglected by the Costa Rica Government and this is reflected in the attitude of the people...rather different from the rest of Costa Rica. Not friendly in general. The rooms are very basic (VERY). The surroundings are much better though. The rate includes a full cooked breakfast which is in the restaurant which overlooks the pounding surf and vegetation. This time of the year it rails almost always so think about going there this time of the year. The pool, the gardens are well kept.
However the front desk staff are young black Costa Ricans noted by their surliness and unfriendly attitude not to mention incompetent. They need major retraining. That being said, the rate of $68.00 for two people in a room is not too bad.

I have stay at tis hoel on several occasions.
I found the rooms fairly small but clean.

The food was very good!

I love the pool.

You have to try the Thursday night buffet.

It was a real desillusion as we have been told that this hotel was one of the best in Puerto Limon. Rooms are really small and are getting really old, confort is basic, and beach is not accessible.
Breakfast is included but terrible. The only good point is the beautiful view from the restaurant.

We paid around 80 dollars for one night double but we learned that this hotel has two different prices policy for the same room depending whether you are from costa rica or not. "locals" pay around 40 dollars a night which is closer to the really value for this hotel. Anyway, it always gives a bad feeling when you realized that you have been cheated...

We recently spent two days in the Maribu Caribe and enjoyed our stay. The grounds and the view were beautiful, the room very adequate. The food was plentiful and not great but satisfactory. We received excellent service from all the staff.

We went on a half a day guided river/canal tour towards Tortuguero and this was wonderful, I would highly recommend it. We had an excellent guide and saw lots of wild life.

The only drawback of the resort is that there is no nice beach close by (there is a small swimming pool) and nowhere to go for a walk. But Puerto Limon is only about 3 kms away (about US $5 a trip).
