We read reviews here on trip advisor about tours in Limon and everyone seemed to like William so we took a chance. Just as William explained in the email, our driver, Manuel, was waiting for us at the cruise dock with our name on a sign so we couldn't miss him. Manuel was the best tour guide and did everything he could to ensure our satisfaction. We spent about 5 hours with Manuel and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a tour guide in Limon. William and Manuel were very easy to work with and custom designed our tour to give us exactly what we wanted. We were very pleased and would gladly sign up with them again.

Excellent information was shared by William via email before we booked this tour. We chose to do the tour which included a city ride, banana plantation, fruit stand stop, beach stop, and Tortuguero Canals. This was to be a 4 hour tour for $45 per person. Tony was our driver and met us precisely as agreed to, outside the port gates at 8 a.m. holding a sign with our name. The vehicle was a van with a/c, there were 5 guests on our tour.
Tony was pleasant, courteous, and spoke excellent English. He pointed out numerous interesting details about the city, the countryside, the vegetation, the culture, etc. as we proceeded away from the city.
We stopped at a fruit stand which anticipates tourists. They have several tropical fruits on display, cut open, available for tasting. Tony explained about the delicious choices. There was no fee, but we left the vendor a tip for their kindness.
The banana plantation was memorable, as we didn't simply pass by the plantings, we stopped and spent about an hour there. This was Del Monte, a major producer. The processing and packaging operation may be seen in all phases up close and personal. We learned a great deal.
We continued to the Tortuguero Canal and boarded a comfortable covered open-air boat. Our boat captain was Fernando, who also spoke good English. He knows the canal intimately and guided the boat to allow for possible viewings of wildlife. We saw sloths, monkeys, and numerous birds, mostly majestic herons of several kinds. The "sightings" were not dramatic, as the wildlife hides in the trees, but the ride was thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing. We were on the boat about 1 1/4 hours. We met William who proudly introduced crew and family.
Tony took us to a beach stop, which had a small tavern and rest rooms. We did not stay at the beach, but that is an option. We enjoyed refreshing drinks, as it was very hot. Our group agreed at this point not to end this tour before having lunch, so Tony took us to El Faro restaurant. This had an open-air patio overlooking Limon and even our own ship. Food was good, although service was leisurely. Because of dining, we were away from the ship an additional 2 hours.
Tony returned us to the ship area with plenty of time to spare. We paid him cash, plus tips, for a totally enjoyable day. I felt this tour stands out for the personalized service, the kindness and courtesy of the guides, and the good value. It gave us a desire to return to Costa Rica in the future.

The tour through the Tortugeras with this tour company was very nice and extremely interesting. The guide as well as the skipper used the almost 5 hours to show us all kind of wildlife. I would definitevely recommend this tour, if you are in the area.

My husband and I took a New Years cruise. I found this company on Trip Advisor. They were not the top rated, but their reviews were all very good so I decided to cantact them. I am very glad I did. The owners, William Guerrero Araya And Luis Martin Smith, were very prompt in their responces to my questions. They met us off the ship just where they said they would be, and the tour was very nice. We especially enjoyed the canal ride. There was a lot of wildlife to see. The tour guides were very professional and knowledgable. Their English was a little rough, but we managed to communicate without too much difficulty. If you go to Playa Bonita be sure to wear your bathing suit. We did not bring ours and I would have loved to have swum. The beach is not the prettiest we have seen in our cruises, but the canal and banana plantation were the highlites for us! Also, the price was very reasonable. It made it possible to give a nice tip to the guides since they did a wonderful job.

I just came back with my family from a Panama Canal Cruise and wanted to share my fantastic experience with Tortuguero Wildlife Tours in Limon!
Our driver was there to greet us right at the port with a gleaming red spotless van. He picked up our party of 7 - which consisted of 3 adults and 4 children and we were on our way. Our driver and guide Tony was excellent - making various stops on the way to the fruit stand and banana plantation to show us various wildlife (including some monkeys in the trees along the road!)and flowers, trees and plants on the way. He was very informative and answered all of our many questions. After the banana plantation (which was much more interesting than I would have ever imagined!) we drove to the small boat which took us on the river cruise. Tony waited for us while we enjoyed cruising on the along the canal. Although seeing wildlife on the river cruise is not guaranteed - we saw everything...from sloths and monkeys to caymans and crocodiles...and a multitude of birds! Our driver and guide on the river cruise again was excellent and we have no idea how he spotted the things he did!
While we were getting off the boat and were on our way to meet Tony - we were actually greeted by the owner of the tour company (Luis) who wanted to make sure that everything was okay and that we were all enjoying ourselves. My husband and I were overwhelmed that he took the time to come and meet us and ensure that the tour was meeting up to our expectations! in all the years we have been taking shore excursions we have never had this happen.

After getting back in van - Tony took us for a little beach time where the kids got to enjoy some swimming and the adults got to relax and have enjoy a drink while supervising. Lastly, Tony took us for a BEAUTIFUL lunch at a restaurant which had beautiful panoramic views of Limon. The food was wonderful and very reasonably priced and they even had a kids menu.

Our day in Costa Rica was so enjoyable and I couldn't think of a better tour which offered this much variety! Book your tour with this company - you won't be disappointed!
