Our family stayed at La Casa de las Flores during our vacation in Costa Rica. Ivano and Roberta are fantastic and the hotel is a true delight. The couple— originally from Italy, built the hotel to their own specifications only a few years ago. It is clean, stylish and a wonderful blend of the Tropics and Europe. Rooms were spacious. They are Air-Conditioned and have flat screen TVs, which was a rare treat. Roberta and Ivano are charming and have great senses of humor. The hotel is only a couple of blocks from town and convenient to everything. Breakfast was exceptional. Fresh fruit, breads and eggs made to order.

But the best part was Roberta and Ivano. They are wonderful and make any stay a delight.

My husband and I stayed at Ivano and Roberta's hotel on our way to Bocas. The hotel is in a great location, one block from the city center, 5 min-walk from Playa Negra, and two blocks from the Cahuita National Park. Even though it rained a lot during our stay, we did not feel trapped. The owners are very helpful pointing out places to visit in the area and how to get there. My husband and I bypassed the extra fees from the tour agencies and took the bus at the bus center (located three blocks from the hotel) to go to the Sloth Sanctuary, and on another day to go to the chocolate museum. It was safe and cost effective, about $1.00 round trip p/p each trip. Roberta speaks English, Italian and Spanish.

On another note, after reading the negative comments about their dogs, I'd like to say that like all dogs, they can bark a little. As for dogs being out in the weather, I have to say that because I have lived in different countries, it can be part of one' culture to leave the creatures outside. Having lived in the US for so many years, where pets are a part of the family and not the sole protector of the house, I also understand that people may be sensitive to this and that it might have upset the other reviewer. At any rate, we did not see any thing unusual during our stay. And it rained a lot...
From our experience, La Casa de Las Flores is an inviting, clean, safe, place with extra comfortable beds in a convenient location.

Very nice place! Awesome location, right beside city center but yet very calm. The owners are living on site, so this is more like a B&B. They were not around for most of our stay (had to go to the capital), but they had one staff continually on site for the whole time. She was very kind and sweet, always ready to help. The morning breakfast was comprised of fruits, bread, jams, eggs, banana bread (yummy!) coffee and orange juice. They lended us a towel to go to the beach, which was a very welcomed attention. Room was cleaned and tidied up everyday. Unfortunately, the neighbour's dog is barking 2-3 times every morning, but don't let that change your mind, the place is still definity worth it!!

Air conditioning, full breakfast, private parking, convivial hosts, all that in a cute town on the beach and next to a wildlife reserve? Wow! This was another unexpected treasure that we found. I totally recommend it!

Family owned and operated. Owner on site. Very safe and very cozy. Reasonable prices. Impressive. English speaking. Quiet part of town. Cute rooms. Area has some great resturaunts. Night life is ok, lots of visable drug use on the street. Not at any time did we feel threatened. No one bothered us. Great place to stop over, i wouldnt stay in this town any longer than a night or two.

Fabulous little place, big clean rooms, Roberta was so welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for her! In a great spot right in town but not on the Main Street, not too noisy at all(as lp suggested) we had a fabulous stay here. Would recommend it.

We spent 2 nights here February 2013. We traveled with friends who had spent a week at this hotel in February of 2013. They were so impressed we had to just had to stay.
Roberta & Ivano truly make you feel like family when you stay here. They are helpful, hospitable, & very friendly. Their son was a great playmate for my daughter & we enjoyed our time thoroughly. The rooms are clean & spacious. The hotel is within walking distance of restaurants, beaches, etc.

There is secure off street parking as well.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in the Cahuita/Puerto Viejo area.
