Location 10 mins to airport, free shuttle buses to and from airport at regular times. 15 min drive to town centre ,cab cost around $20. Room quite large, v clean, v comfortable bed, nice bathroom, shower head could be improved. Ask for room in the new building and facing away from the high road if a light sleeper. All staff v friendly and helpful. Lovely reception area. Breakfast included was v good, nothing made to order but wide selection. Free wifi, reliable . Swimming pool cold but jacuzzis bearable. Indoor jacuzzi and sauna nice . Small gym, hair salon and casino. Overall would recommend, better value for money then others

The rooms were excellent, the pools outstanding, and the buffet was wonderful. Free shuttle service to the airport. The staff was helpful, and everything was what you'd expect from a first-class hotel. It would have been helpful to have an ATM somewhere in the hotel, but there was none. There is a lot of construction going on this month in the front of the hotel, but no noise in the rooms from it. Ample hot water, large bathrooms. Breakfast was delicious and varied, with many local dishes as well as the standards. The only glitch was when we used one of the meeting rooms with construction going on in the room next to it. The workers finally agreed to stop using screeching power tools while our meeting was going on, but it took a while to work this out. There is a large gift shop on the premises. We didn't use the spa, so I can't rate that. The staff, when we checked out, made sure we had a card with the name and address of the hotel, and suggested we write to Trip Advisor about our experience---so Trip Advisor seems to be making people stand up and take notice in the hospitality industry. Aren't you proud?

We moved to the Ramada (also known as the Windom Herradura) for our last night in San Jose as it is near the Air Port and has a shuttle service. We had the Gran Hotel down town for a couple of days, as we wanted to walk the city. We asked to leave a bag with the Ramada's bell man and they happly accomodated us.

This is a very modern hotel with excellent accomodations and three restraunts (we chose Italian and had a so-so dinner). The hotel is very clean and the staff was accomodating. I am restricted to decaf coffee and they had the first cup I found in Costa Rica, instant, but it was decaf There are three or four nice pools to swim and a large jacuzzzi.

We left before breakfast so I am not able to comment on their breakfast. Shuttle was on time and we were at the Airport in just a few minutes (this was very early 5:00am so there was no traffic problem.)

I would book them again for a last night or two in San Juan as it is a very relaxing place.

Room Tip: We had a room in the 6000 wing facing the pool. West side very nice.

Dear Guest,

That´s a pity you were not able to enjoy all our amenities and facilities, such as Spa, Casino, car rental, travel agency and so on. We hope to see you soon, we really appreciate your comments. The Hard Rock Café will be open in March so there will be four restaurants and much entertainment for our guests.

Best regards,

We spent four days at the Ramada Plaza Herradura before heading south on a real estate hunting trip, and really enjoyed this hotel. The staff was very well-trained, very helpful and pleasant. I needed a fax sent, and they got it sent eagerly and at no charge. Great full complimentary breakfast in the morning, with attentive, cheerful waiters and great food at every meal. There's a small casino we didn't use, and two additional restaurants. We especially liked the Italian restaurant. This hotel is the kind I like best, not high end, but beautifully presented at a reasonable price with a great staff and attention to detail. Real close to the airport.

I traveled with a Road Scholar program so I don't know the cost of this hotel alone, but DO want to comment on it: a beautiful building complex with pocket gardens at every turn; lovely swimming pools; a very pleasant staff; a spacious room and bath with many extras. I would love to return.

My experience in the hotel has positive and negative aspects. I had a problem during check in (the travel company informed the wrong dates) but the staff was very nice and had it all solved in a few minutes. Also, they were pretty helpful in arranging me a minibar (the rooms do not have one) because I needed to keep food in the fridge (because of a food allergy, I brought some special food with me). The staff is smiling all the time. The souvenir store at the lobby is great. The room is spacious, lots of TV channels, excellent big bed. Nevertheless, the shower is terrible. If you like a hot bath, you are only allowed to take one early in the morning - by the end of the day, the only water available is almost cold. There are several buildings in the hotel and getting around might be very confusing. The breakfast is poor and there is no way you can get anything to eat if you are on a diet. I was afraid to eat some things because of my food allergy, once there was no information on ingredients for anything. I did not get the chance of enjoying the pool, nor the casino. There is a spa, but services tend to be a little more expensive than average. Cross the street you will find a small shopping center with several food options. But forget about shopping there (I am a woman and I could not buy anything). I strongly recommend the freshly squeezed juice kiosk. I am not able to say much about the location of the hotel because I was attending a meeting in the mountains and never got to see where actually was located San Jose, and how far from the hotel is the city. Finally, the hotel has free airport shuttle, which is very convenient.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sending us your feedback. Indeed, becuase of the location, amenities, facilities, service, swimming pools, our hotel is one of the best in the whole. Right now we have three restaurants one Italian, another one Japanese and other one international. However, there will be one more in march 2013 which it will be the first Hard Rock Café in Costa Rica.

We hope to have you with us again in a near future. Once again thank you for choosing the new Wyndham San José Herradura.

Pros:

1) Near airport

Cons:

1) Extremely noisy (hotel has casino - gamblers rowdy all night in the hallways)
2) Curtains do not block the light
3) Angry bell hops - a guy named Carlo seemed so upset to deliver simple water to my room. Other bell hop Fernando was awesome.
4) Maids came into my room despite 'Do Not Disturb' sign - very bad and disturbing.
5) Maintenance crew with loud walkie talkies always roaming around

Rating: 1 out of 10. You've been warned.
