As many have already mentioned the place is incredible from a location perspective, nearby access to several amazing waterfalls, as well as many other unique assets such as the Aviary, Trout Pond, Snake area etc.

I would reccomend a night or two, I think becuase of it's isolation, which makes it beautiful, could eventually become a negative if you stayed beyond that, since their are no other options close by for entertainment or dinner.

I would also note that becuase of the climbing and steps required to get anywhere, I would avoid it, if you have any healthcare concerns

We stayed at the Peace Lodge for two nights in February. It was a beautiful and relaxing place. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms are awesome, and the service is great. However, we did not read the fine print and at the last minute had some friends join us. We stayed in the Villa and even though the Villa sleeps 6, the rate is only based on double occupancy. We had to pay 160 dollars extra on top of the 385 for one night. I think that is ridiculous. Also, the food is made for tourists and is very American. And overpriced. And since this is the only place around, you have no choice where you can eat. But don't get me wrong, the rooms are amazing, the waterfalls are gorgeous, and the staff is friendly. Two days here was plently for us and a nice change from the beach.

We spent an amazing 24 hours in La Paz Waterfall Gardens and stayed at the Peace Lodge which is in this incredible park. The hotel is gorgeous. The rooms have a view with a private deck with a rock hot pool, a hummingbird feeder with birds constantly darting in and out, a hammock, and you are in the middle of the rain forest. The room is large with a canopy bed, a fireplace and a bathroom with a waterfall shower, a rock tub and stained glass. You kind of don't want to leave the room or the bathroom or the deck. The park has waterfalls, a fern garden, wonderful paths through the ferns and along the waterfalls. There is a huge butterfly garden and a frog garden that you can see at night ( when the frogs are active) and the park is closed if you are staying in the hotel. If you only have one day in Costa Rica this is where to spend it. It's worth the price!

After 10 days of traveling throughtout Costa Rica: San Jose, Tortuguero, La Fortuna & Jaco, we are glad the Peace Lodge was the LAST stop on our trip.
We were ready to be pampered and that we were. We didn't even bother having breakfasts at the restaurants because it was so wonderful having breakfast on our balcony and watching hummingbirds buzz by.
Dinners at the main restaurant were wonderful as was the service. Loved the tortilla soup & filet mignon.
There are PLENTY of activities in peace lodge. Too bad we didn't see the finished product of the aviary. Oh well, another reason to come back!
The Night frog Tour was exceptional-- (THANKS Alex!) --our tour guide was very informative and we were able to take the best photographs.

Can't Wait to come back!

P.S. If you want to see Poas Volcano-- buy a postcard :)

Our family of four and my mother-in-law stayed here for two nights in December. I don't buy in to the the criticisms that the place is too fake or Disney-like - the rooms were the nicest we had during our trip to Costa Rica. The bathrooms were over-the-top but my kids loved them. They got a lot a use out of the various showers and jacuzzis.

The level of service was consistently high. Everyone spoke very good English.

The refrigerators in the room are large mini-bars. There's extra room in them so that you can store soft drinks, beer, etc.

The complimentary breakfasts were very good and they would cook egg dishes to order. We had mixed results with a room service dinner and lunch at the Trout bar. We also ate dinner at Corbet's and highly recommend it. It's about a 15 minute drive from the Peace Lodge.

We enjoyed touring the waterfalls and various nature exhibits. The nightly frog tour ($5 each) was worthwhile. We also visited the Poas Volcano and Doka Coffee Estate. Both are fairly close to the Peace Lodge.
