I went with the family for a "coffee plantation tour" which was arranged by the concierge at the Marriott in San Jose. I wasn't expecting anything more than a ho-hum routine visit to a coffee plantation. Surprise! The place is more for roasting and packaging coffee beans procured from plantations across Costa Rica. What held our interest was the way the staff made it a hugely entertaining tour which included slap stick comedy jokes and a small play put together in the AV auditorium on the premises. The one hour tour included a cleverly witty history on how coffee came to Costa Rica in the 18th century and how the business grew over the past few decades. The cheesy jokes and the little plantation (more for show than any serious production) was ingeniously packaged to explain how coffee is made and the little intricacies of every day drinking for the coffee gourmet. All in all a very pleasant experience.

Interesting to learn about Costa Ricas coffee history and the process if making it. It's obvious they are experienced tour guides. Show is a little cheesy but still fun. Would recommend.

If you want an entertaining look into the world of coffee, complete with a delicious lunch, this is your place! We had the best time here. The skit was adorable and the whole tour very enjoyable. The lunch at the end of the tour was great! The gift shop had lots of free samples of the coffees and chocolates which make the perfect souvenir to carry home! Highly recommend!

after some initial problems finding the location based upon the satnav coordinates on a costa rican site, my wife and i did the tour with 2 informative and friendly guides. the tour takes you around a small coffe plantation before heading indoors for a short presentation on the art of quality control and tasting. plenty of interesting facts and information about the coffee making process - its growing, production, refinement and drinking. certainly not a bargain at over $30 a head but you do get a nice iced coffee at the end! cafe britt is clearly trying to establish itself as a global brand and makes no excuses for heading you off at the end of the tour to its well stocked on-site shop. we learnt a lot about our favourite morning drink and on balance pleased we made the effort to find the location. the correct location coordinates are N10.00937 W84.12123

Although not full blown plantation, this tour was extremely informative and creatively presented in both English and Spanish. There is a lot to understand in the coffee making process as well as understanding it's history. Much vegatation on the grounds so you get to see many flowers and plants as well. Worth the trip.

Dear visitors,

Thanks so much for your nice reviews. Although we buy our coffee from around 2000 independent growers in Costa Rica, our plantation, where our coffee tour is held, is a growing plantation, and the coffee grown here is used for some of our coffees. As you know we are not producers, but the best gourmet coffee roasters, that is what has made us famous for the past 27 years and counting.

We are glad you enjoyed our facilities and we hope to have you back in a near future.

Sincerely,
Britt CoffeeTour Team
