Hotel Casa Sueca
Ranked #17 of 45 Tamarindo B&B and Inns
Reviewed March 31, 2010

We stayed at Casa Sueca with our two teenage daughters for Spring Break 2010. We had the large El Coco apartment and it was beautiful with more than enough space (including a large full kitchen and bathroom) for our family. In addition, there was a large balcony with lush green surroundings with flowers and birds. The on-site manager, Tanja made our trip. She helped us with everything from arranging transportation, finding grocery stores and restaurants, to sharing the local culture of Costa Rica. Our whole family adored the hard working Eduardo who was always smiling and eager to assist. Casa Sueca is a quiet, green respite off the beaten path from dusty Tamarindo, but close enough to go to town whenever you want. The beach is just across the street through a neat little path, and the pool was fanastic!

Costa Rica and Casa Sueca were more than I could have imagined. There were seven of us (including BamBam who also wrote a review) staying in the two upstairs apartments plus one downstairs studio for 10 nights. There was so much space for all of us both inside and out, and the kitchen had everything you needed to prepare meals. The saltwater pool and whirlpool were great - we pretty much lived in them. The pictures on their website do not show how beautiful this place really is…
Our Hostess - Tanja was the best and not only did we appreciate her assistance with information as well as booking tours, restaurants and taxi's, but we also made wonderful new friends!! We were there for a wedding and Tanja and the staff created a wonderful area on the beach to exchange vows. She also brought someone onsite to do our bride’s hair and makeup.
Tours - we went ziplining with Pura Adventura - which was amazing - and the staff were not only a lot of fun, but I also felt very safe swinging high in the jungle. I highly recommend this place! We also did a river tour in the estuary and saw a few crocs, lots of different birds, and hiked a little to see howler monkeys. Our third tour was on the Marlin Del Ray, a catamaran tour with snorkling - lots of drinks and fun was had by all!!
The Town - was a 10 minute walk from Casa Sueca by beach (bring a flashlight for night walking) and 15 minutes by road. Tamarindo is small enough that there wasn't any need for transportation, but large enough to have lots of shops, banks (although some bank cards didn't work in some of the ATM's), and grocery stores - anything you would need. The roads are dirt, so there is a lot of dust, and taxi's are readily available.
The Beach – was amazing and less than a minute walk across the street!! Never crowded, and so long and wide when the tide was out, with beautiful shells (but customs won’t let you take them home). Our group had fun using boogie boards, but did not try surfing.
Restaurants - although we made most of our meals at Casa Sueca, we did eat at “Suchi” (all you can eat Sushi plus Miso Soup and Edamame for $20), and two higher end restaurants – “El Coconut” and “Seasons” – around $40 for appetizer, entrée and a couple of cocktails. We enjoyed all of them!!! For breakfast and lunch we did frequent El Pescador, which had great prices, drinks and food, but service could sometimes be very slow.
Can't wait to go back!!!!!

For those looking for a great place to stay in Tamarindo, this is it. The room was large, clean and very comfortable equipped with a kitcenette great for lazy mornings. The pool was large and simply beautiful with the plush and numerous trees and bushes providing a wonderful backdrop. You are a quarter a block (literally 1 minute walk) from a beautful beach this is simply heavenly. We can't wait to get back to Tamarindo and stay at Casa Sueca. Highly recommended!!!!.

Let me first say CON MUCHO GUSTO to Tanya and her staff for making our vacation the best ever! I was blown away with the quality, location size, service and excellent amenities that Casa Sueca has to offer!! We went down for our friends wedding and Tanya ensured our stay went off without a hitch! I just got home this afternoon and want to go back already!! Tamarindo Beach is a great place with excellent beaches, awesome food and lots of great beach restaurants and bars! The Margaritas are the best I ever had! We went Zip lining arranged through our neighbor and it was awesome!! This place has double cables which make it very safe and it rates as the best I ever seen. The catamarand was excellent, bring lots of sunscreen! lol Ask Tanya for assistance for tours!

In closing, Casa Sueca blew me away with the high level of cleanliness, courteous staff and awesome location! The pool was perfect and Eduardo became a great amigo to us!

Tanya and her Staff did everything in their power to make our stay most enjoyable and thier professionalism is first class! We all miss Casa Sueca and the new friends we made and will hopefully return soon!!
LOVE YA GUYS!

Casa Sueca is a comfortable house in a great location. Directly across the street is the entrance to the beach. The new owner made serious improvements to this house and my kids enjoyed the pool day and night. The care taker Tanya was helpful and accommodating, she gave us good travel and restaurant advice. The rooms where clean and the sheets and towels where brand new. The rooms also had a kitchenette, so we shopped at the local grocery and cooked a lot. We were also allowed to use the washer and dryer and BBQ by the pool, as needed. We where the only the customers there at the time we stayed, so it felt like a private house. Overall it was a great vacation for my family and surfer husband.
PS they also had sand toys and boogie boards for kids.

We love small hotels and B&Bs--we don't care for large resorts where we are treated like a number--and Casa Sueca provides the beauty and high standars of a large resort with the personalized service one can only get at a small hotel.

The pool is AMAZING, the rooms are impeccably clean and enormous, and the value for the dollar is just unsurpassed.

We will definitely be going back!

We stayed at Casa Sueca with our two kids (5 and 7 years old) for two weeks and we had a great time. The location is great - 30 meter walk to the beach through a path covered with trees that have monkeys on them; it is a very nice beach for swimming or boogie boarding; we had nice walks on the beach during low tide to see the fish and observe other wonders of earth. The tamarindo village is very close and we had dinners at various restaurants that we enjoyed. We are planning our next trip there next year and we will return to Casa Sueca!
