From the moment their driver picked us up at the airport, to the welcoming greeting and lunch waiting for us when we arrived; it was like "returning" to our own private villa in paradise shared by a handful of friends. (This was our first visit here but they made us feel that we were part of a family.... so welcoming and hospitable.

This was truly an extraordinary hotel. Situated on a hill top with a view of the hills surrounding Tamarindo with the Pacific Ocean about 5 miles in the distance, makes the perfect backdrop whether your working out, doing yoga or utilizing their world class spa. Their location is either a positive or negative. We were looking for rest and relaxation and thats what they do best. Because of their remote location, they provide you with ground transportation, at your service. It was like having our own chauffeur.

But best of all is the food! (In my opinion) The center piece of the hotel is their kitchen, which is situated just to the right of the front door. And the adjacent 12 seat dinning room table. Their is only 6 rooms and the total number of guests at most is 12....everyone eats together, breakfast and lunch are included, dinner is extra and optional...if you opt out they will drive you to any number of resturants and pick you up when your finished.

This is Foody Heaven. I was able to watch Chef Zuly and her assistants prepare classic Cost Rican dishes all day long. She prepares something different and delicious every night for dinner and on Tuesday she runs a cooking class where we prepare what we eat that night. Chef Zuly is self taught and has some interesting cooking techniques.

To finish off our trip, they offered to do all our laundry the last night such that we would have clean nothing when we returned home.

Like I said, it was like visiting my own villa in paradise

Room Tip: They are all good room....but if you can afford it take the suite on the second floor, big picture windows and a jacuzzi tub in the room.

This small hotel in the hills above the beautiful Costa Rican northern Pacific coast, near the town of Tamarindo, is a real gem by any standards. It has 6 lovely, well appointed rooms, most of which are centered around the beautiful tiled infinity pool overlooking the ocean, and a large great room where excellent, gourmet meals are prepared by a very talented local chef and served to the guests in a communal setting three times a day. We rarely left the property for the 5 days we stayed. We also enjoyed a day in the beautiful spa on the property, which also attracts day business from Tamarindo. This is an adults only resort, and caters to a very interesting and sophisticated clietelle (mainly Americans during our stay) who we enjoyed socializing with during our stay. Jacqueline, the owner, keeps a watchful eye over everything to make sure everyone's experience is first rate. The staff is extremely catering as well (even doing your daily laundry for no additional fee). You do not need a car here, as the hotel employs drivers on the staff to transpot guests to various destinations around the area in a very new and comfortable mini van. We enjoyed the weekly planned excursion (for a very reasonable fee) to the town of Santa Cruz, where we dined in a very authentic Costa Rican restaurant and visited a multi-generational family pottery studio where we purchased some lovely pieces. We were not surprised to learn that many guests are regulars at the hotel. One of the younger couples we met was there for their fifth time. Some couples flew in from the US for a 3-5 day stay, which is very doable. The hotel is located 1 hour and 10 minutes from the Liberian Airport which is a very nice small airport with almost none of the typical stressors one encounters at airports these days.

Room Tip: The rooms with King sized beds seemed a tad larger.

We originally visited LADE five years ago and decided to return for Valentine's week. Are we every glad we did! Everything was just as beautiful as we remembered but even more so. The service is outstanding. The staff cater to your needs. The food was superb. Chef Zulay's culinary creations are modern, healthy, eye appealing and delicious. Better than any food we had in Tamarindo! They also cater to any dietary restrictions or allergies without batting an eyelash. We stayed in Room 4, a king room with our lounge chairs right out front, very quiet and comfortable. After 3 nights we switched to Room 5, the Eros suite. Beautiful, spacious with great views. The staff set up a special table for two on our balcony beautifully decorated for Valentine's day. You get free rides to the beach or town. They have several drivers, all very nice and accommodating. The spa is beautiful! It's an open air, tropical paradise! The treatments were excellent - I had a deep tissue massage, a papaya body wash/wrap and a manicure during the week. Our thanks to all the staff, including Yanina, Miriam and Jennifer and all the others!

My wife and I are seasoned travelers and our stay at LADE is the best we've had thus far! The staff dotes on the guests and provides excellent service. From the yummy meals and complimentary Cuban cigars to our comfy room with an "outdoor shower", we had a truly great experience. The view from the pool over Tamarindo was breathtaking. Thank you to the staff for making our winter getaway memorable!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for four nights and we were blown away but the gorgeous setting and fantastic hospitality. Authentic feel, high quality food and drink plus staff who make you feel like they're genuinely happy you're there! Had fun on the cookery course and I loved my 90 minute massage (it's worth the splurge as a special treat). Only minor suggestion in way of feedback is to increase the variety at breakfast as it got a little repetitive. Apart from that, bravo! We look forward to staying again when we return to beautiful Costa Rica.
