This is a great hotel with cabanas right next to the beach where you can surf and watch the sunset. It is also walking distance to the city center without being so close as to be bothered by the noise.

My husband and I stayed at Casa Cook for 4 nights in May. It is truly a gem - very clean, excellent service and a perfect beachfront location. We stayed in the Playa Grande casita which was spacious for the two of us - and very clean. The A/C was very welcome - especially at night and the availability of TV was nice. Antonio and Tracey were so helpful with restaurant and tour recommendations. The beach in front of Casa Cook is beautiful - soft sand with warm water. There were surfers in the water every day (fun to sit and watch them with a cup of coffee in my hand) but the surf was easily managed by us ocean rookies. The kitchenette in the cabina was very convenient and there is a small grocery store just down the street. The water in the cabinas is safe to drink. There were quite a few mosquitoes and "no see ums" on the beach in the evening so make sure to have repellant. Walking to town by beach or road is very quick but it is a little dark - there is a flashlight in the room and that helped alot. Our stay at Casa Cook was wonderful and we would definitely stay here again when we are back in Tamarindo.

We were literally around 10 steps from the beach. The room was comfortable and had a queen bed, a sleeper futon, and kitchen. We felt safe because there was a locked gate between the hotel and the beach and there was someone walking around the property all night. We were a short walk away from the area restaurants and shops. The staff is fantastic. They really go all out to make your stay the best possible. They put out hammocks for us at the beach, arranged surfing lessons for my son and horsebackriding for my husband. There is a nice pool but I spent all my time at the beach. I miss falling asleep to the sound of waves.

All I can say is wow! Casa Cook was exactly like the website and the TripAdvisor reviews led us to hope. We stayed 4 nights in the casita (the first floor of the main house). Large bedroom & bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, cozy sitting area, TV with probably 100 satellite channels, and maybe 20 paces from the beach. Immaculately clean, and the staff was very accomodating. Casa Cook even comes with its own laid-back beach cat ("Buddy") and a colony of howler monkeys who frequently hang out in the mango trees next door. The hotel is really well located. Far enough outside of "downtown" Tamarindo to avoid the noise & crowds, but close enough to walk anywhere you want to go. You can either walk on the beach or along the road to town. We will definitely come back here!

We arrived at Casa Cook (via the taxi they arranged for us for $75) from Liberia airport - a little more than an hour's drive. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. We stayed in one of the two beachfront cabinas for 4 nights and would have been happy to stay much longer. The room was clean, kitchen was convenient (and clean), and the service was fantastic. Antonio, Tracy, Ignacio, and crew did everything they could to make sure our vacation was perfect (e.g. recommending restaurants, finding us when the monkeys went by, transporting lounge chairs to the beach for us, etc). And the beach ... the beach is heaven. Far enough from town that it's peaceful and quiet. But close enough that you can walk to civilization/restaurants when desired. The beach is nice, soft, fine grain sand with very few rocks and a gentle slope into the bath water-like temps. Heaven...

We dined at Nogui's (for breakfast), Capitan Suizo's (for lunch and dinner), Buen Appetito (for lunch - cash only), and Carolina's (for dinner). We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food (although we didn't expect much). We also shopped at the Super Compro for groceries. We did not rent a car, but rather walked everywhere (although we live in the NYC metro area and are walkers at home). Casa Cook was exactly what we were looking for - low key accommodations in a fantastic location. We wouldn't hesitate to return ... in a heartbeat (if possible). Thanks to everyone at Casa Cook for a wonderful stay!

My husband and I stayed for one week. It was lovely to wake up each morning and simply take a few steps to walk on the beach! We stayed right on the beach; plenty of room for two! Staff was very helpful, especially Antonio! We did not enjoy sleeping on the hard, hard bed! Wish they could find something softer. You have to walk to find a restaurant, but one is not too far down the beach! I was somewhat scared at first because there is an iron fence with electronic wire around the property; was somewhat leery about walking the beach late at night to eat. If we walked on the road, we ate plenty of dust! Would be best to rent a car.

I stayed in the main house of Casa Cook with four friends in mid-December and could not have asked for a better experience! The house itself was perfectly clean (cleaned every day my a maid service) had a great kitchen, and even a TV with English channels. There's a private pool in the backyard and immediately beyond the pull is a gate (guarded 24/7), then the beach.

The house is about a 10 minute walk down the beach from the main town, so the beach right outside of Casa Cook (and I mean RIGHT outside) is relatively empty. There are hammocks, lounge chairs, plenty of towels provided, and as many boogie boards as you need!

We couldn't have asked for a better experience! We felt safe, we were perfectly located, and had everything we needed to cook on our own. Perfect!
