“Best place in Tamarindo to stay”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

We have stayed in different places in Tamarindo but this was the nicest. The owner (Richard) is very friendly and helpful. This hotel combines charm, quite and comfort. The restaurant (Seasons) was also very nice. The comfort rooms on the second level are great!

My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was very large and very comfortable with two comfortable queen beds. There is a gourmet restaurant on site with fabulous food and a very full breakfast included with the room. The grounds are lovely and iit is a short walk to the heart of activity in town and the beach. The pool is spotless and crystal clear. The staff is great,
very friendly and helpful

A lover of wildlife in particular 'monkeys' I was looking for a comfortable lodge-type accommodation bordering on the jungle yet close enough to walk to town & the ocean, well the Hotel Arco Iris was *the perfect fit*. We chose the upper level of the lodge as I wanted to be able to have a birds-eye view if my monkeys were to appear within the hotel grounds!! Which I,m thrilled to report they did!! Howler monkeys, unbelievable sound they make, quite scary actually, took great pic's & recorded the sound they make!
Back to the hotel/lodge..there are also bungalow's you can stay in complete with hammock's outside each one. Richard the owner couldn't do enough for us & Yvette (or Iveth in Costa Rican) his receptionist was delightful! Also Paula the afternoon/evening receptionist was very helpful.
Beautiful, tranquil setting, far enough away from town, yet near enough to wander for dinner & sunsets on the beach with drink in hand! Highly recommend, you won,t be disappointed, rooms are modern, comfortable & clean, also there is fresh coffee, fruit & toast that awaits you every morning! The pool is inviting too & situated beside the 'Season's' restaurant open for dinner most evenings. A wonderful overall first experience in Costa Rica can't wait to return.
Fantastic job Richard & all of your staff there @ Hotel Arco Iris, an unforgettable experience!

Room Tip: We chose the upper level of the lodge as was recommended right here on Trip Advisor, the bungalow...

We stayed here three days just over a year ago and would definitely return! Beautiful hotel and wonderful breakfast area by the pool. Wonderful, friendly staff. Great restaurant, Seasons by Shlomy on site. Easy to walk anywhere from there and lots to choose from. We took a great ATV and zip line trip from there too. Many good restaurants in the area as well. Loved everything about Tamarindo!

Hotel Arco Iris is fantastic - it is the little things that make it stand out. Here are a few of our favorites:

1. The breakfast is delicious - coffee/tea/juice, toast, fresh fruit, cereal and yogurt every AM (all served in the pool area).

2. The staff help coordinate trips and provide helpful info on the town - for example, I needed advice on where to run and the woman at the desk gave me great ideas. They also setup two fantastic excursions for us (canopy zip-line ride and snorkeling). One was charged to the room for us, as was the transportation to/from the airport.

3. They make your trip work together - for example, when we setup one of our excursions, we needed to be picked up before breakfast starts at 7 AM. The night before the excursion, the staff put everything we needed for breakfast in our room, including our own coffee maker, cereal, toast, etc.

4. Towels - clean beach towels just kept showing up for us...

5. Cleanliness - they room was very clean and well-stocked

6. The wildlife... howler monkeys visited the trees outside our room, lizards came nearby, amazing birds sat right on our balcony. The staff put out cereal in the AM for the birds and the kids loved watching the feeding frenzy.

7. The porches/balconies gave everyone their 'own' outdoor space to hang out.

8. The location - such a quick walk to the beach and town. We were in and out of town about ten times a day... everything was easy to get to (iced coffee runs, tons of restaurant choices, take-out options, beach lounging, the grocery store).

The on-site restaurant transforms at night into Seasons by Shlomy. A very casual atmosphere with high-end food (Cash only!).

The staff really gave this the "fifth" star in the rating!

Room Tip: Something away from the pool/restaurant area.

I stayed in early December 2012 and had a very good time.

Some highlights:

- The hotel is "bungalow" style, each room is its own bungalow, with hammock, about 30 feet from other bungalows. Very private.
- Rooms are modern, and cozy. Bathroom has nice showers and sinks. The water pressure is low, but this did not bother us
- 3-4 minute walk to main area of Tamarindo
- Literally, 1 minute walk to the best restaurants in town (Ttiki, Falafel bar, Dragon Fly, Pizza de Beula)
- Hotel has one of the best reviewed restaurants, Seasons, in teh same property. (Note: credits card not accepted)

I highly recommend this hotel to couples or families. You will definitely enjoy your stay here!
