“a stay to remember”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2013

A very nice, clean and super affordable place in an expensive city. Owners were great , they serve a good but basic breakfast every morning in a common area where you can tip or be tiped about nice place to see . coffee 12/24. Theresa and her husband will be please to tip you on good place to go and nice stuff to do. there's a very useful mini kitchen outside to do some cooking wich include a common refregrator for beers and food. there's a vey good restaurant in front. 5 minutes walk from the beach.

very cosy and relaxing place.

Taramindo is a sleepy surfers town on the coast of Costa Rica, it has a beautiful beach and big waves. Firstly if you looking to stay at the Hilton, then this hotel is not for you.

Hotel Mamari is in a perfect location and just a 5 minute walk from the beach and bars/restaurants.

The owners are very friendly and it's worth chatting to them about the best places to eat. We stayed in room number 1 which was fairly basic but for 40 dollars a night I couldn't complain.

There is a restaurant next door to the hotel and unfortunately right next to this room, so it was noisy. I did mention this and they moved rooms for us to one upstairs with air con and a tv and fridge. All for free. The hotel offers an excellent breakfast and the coffee is free all day which is a welcome relief when your needing some caffeine.

The rooms are clean and comfy but we did get bitten by a few mossy’s, so take repellent. Anywhere you stay in Costa Rica will have the odd bug and fly but hey you are in tropical paradise where these guys thrive.

When in Taramindo you should try surfing lessons, great fun and you should be able to stand up at the end. I just about did. ;-)

So to sum up if you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel with friendly staff in a perfect location then press the book button.

Room Tip: Ask for any room but room number 1! Noisy as right next to a restaurant.

We spent 11 days travelling around CR and this was one of our favourite spots. The price was right and the breakfast was awesome! Definitely get the pancakes. The staff and owners were extremely helpful. We took the shuttle from Liberia right to our hotel door and were greeted warmly. The air conditioning and the in room safe made us feel very comfortable and we enjoyed the 10 minute walk to the beach each day. The garden area gives you the chance to meet travellers while watching the monkeys swing in the trees! I highly recommend this place.

This hotel, is run by a wonderful couple Teresa and Sergio. I stayed for 3 nights with my son and his wife. And they could not do enough for us. They really bend over backwards to help in any way they can. From booking bus tickets to booking tours. Nothing really is too much trouble for them. The rooms are not 5 star. But your not paying 5 star prices, it's very clean and includes a wonderful breakfast of a big bowl of fresh peeled fruit and a choice of pancakes and maple syrup or toast and homemade jams. Coffee is free and on the boil all day. There is a communual kitchen if you fancy preparing your own food. There is a great seating area in the garden where you can chill and relax. Beach is a 5 min walk. There is a restaurant in front of the hotel. And a supermarket just around the corner. All in all a great experience. I will deffinately be back.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have air con so check.

My partner and I stayed at hotel Mamiri for 5 nights.

Originally we were put into room 1 (next to the restaurant). Unfortunately this room was quite noisy in the evening, but this wasn't too much of a problem - the main issue was mosquitos - we were both bitten A LOT in the two nights we were in this room and we saw at least 5 mosquitoes which had got through the screens in the windows.

However the owner was brilliant, and did everything she could to help, moving us to a different (better) room without charging us extra. The second room we stayed in didn't have any mosquitoes.

It's also really good that this hotel has a kitchen area. We cooked our own food 2 nights, as Tamarindo is very expensive. The breakfast is very good, and there is free coffee and communal TV all day.

It's also in a good location, just under 10 mins to the beach, and its generally quite nicely decorated in a shabby chic sort of way. Don't expect luxury, but its generally good value and the owner is lovely and genuinely cares about her guests. If the mosquito screens in room 1 were sorted out it would be 5 out of 5!

Room Tip: Don't choose room 1

This was a great property in a great location with many restaurants near by, and the beach about an 8 minute walk. Great staff, friendly owners. It was great to have breakfast included, and a kitchen to cook your eggs. I loved how our room had a fridge and a safe.
This hotel could be much better with some TLC. There were many Mosquitos in our room because the doors had huge gaps in them, and the screens had holes so the bugs were coming in. I had to wear repellant while I was sleeping. Out of my 23 days in Costa Rica, I had the most bites in my 3 days at this hotel. The bathrooms were so crammed and the toilet was very close to the wall that it made it hard to move around. Maybe some paint or something to spruce up the rooms.
Overall it was a fine place to stay, but I wouldn't stay again with the Mosquitos.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here 1 week in February and it was great.
The people taking care of the hotel were very friendly and nice.
We enjoyed every morning for breakfast pancakes with fruits. There's good coffee all day available for guests.
There is also a kitchen that you can use to cook something and a BBQ as well. WIFI available in our room.
