“Nice stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

We stayed at Tamarindo Diria December 1-8, just my husband and I. Our suite was 224, upstairs and ocean front. Nice suite..... double beds instead of a king but that was ok. The patio is quiet and private and with views to blow your mind. The entrance to the suite however does face the street and it is a bit noisy but not very late.... we slept in a few mornings and were not disturbed by the traffic noise. The Tamarindo is in walking distance of everything you need. Many shops and eateries. The grounds are lovely and well maintained. The breakfast buffet is standard fare but fine, the coffee is great but the service slightly lazy. But it's a beachfront little hotel restaurant with the ocean as a backdrop..... time becomes irrelevant. We layed out by the pool one afternoon and our cocktail waitress was not only very attentive, she was just as sweet and kind as could be, wish i remembered her name! The pools were gorgeous, the beach location is great and the rooms are good. We would visit again. One BIG word of caution.... just outside the beachfront entrance, by the security gaurd, is a friendly guy named David... or Jose.... he switches it up a bit. He IS NOT affiliated with the hotel. He books fishing trips, excursions etc, stands there with a binder of beautiful boats and people with gigantic fish etc etc ....... it's a scam. 350US for half day of fishing...... 50 deposit, rest due the day of fishing. It was a beaten up boat, broken down transportation, guides who (while sweet) spoke no english and we caught no fish. Really shady trips he books. Steer clear. All of our other excursions were booked thru GO ADVENTURE w/ Ciro and he was amazing. We booked the Sunset cruise and the Canopy tour, both just amazing tours. At the last minute we booked the ATV tour and it was great, hit the beach just intime for the most beautiful sunset ever , Albi (not sure of spelling) was our guide. He was just wonderful, took care of our safety and showed us a great time. Just in front of the hotel restaurant you will see lots of young men offering surf lessons, I took a couple with Diego, and he was good natured, patient and just happy to be with. Overall, it's a great place to stay. No real complaints. Just a week filled with spectacular sunsets and the most warm loving people on the planet.

Room Tip: The ocean front rooms are worth the extra money. There is nothing like the sun setting over the oce...

Very curteous and friendly staff. 2 small issues but they were fixed. Everyone was very helpful. Great location with surf right out front. Andre did an excellent job making sure we have everything that we needed!

Room Tip: Beachfront first floor rooms are the best!

The room was comfortable, but the bathroom is really small. But really, what do you expect in a small beach town? We were there for the week between Christmas and New Year's. The hotel through a fantastic NYE party. Great food...way more that we expected and a wonderful variety, the entertainment was a DJ and it was a blast ..and plenty of alcohol. I was worried that it was going to be the typical hotel NYE party, but it was really worth it!!! This was a first class event. In general, the property is very nice..and the rooms on the beach are probably the way to go. The problem is the hotel backs up to the main road in/out of town and it is INCREDIBLY noisy. Cars honky, music blaring, people hollering...ALL night long...and this wasn't just NYE. Since so many reviews reference the noise, it has to be a year round thing. We can party with the best of them ...and have a high tolerance to noise, but we all had to buy earplugs so we could sleep. The restaurant was ok, but be prepared to wait. We ate several lunches an dinners there since it was close and easy. Both took at least 2 hours. The greatest benefit of this hotel is that it is so convenient to everything and it is right on the beach. We would stay here again, but just know what to expect.

Room Tip: Rooms on the beach are incredibly noisy..ALL night long. But, the quieter rooms are across the stre...

Wonderful time:) family of 5 mom& dad, daughters: 24, 19, 15yrs. Beautiful weather, fully booked hotel but never felt crowded. Well manicured grounds. Huge breakfast buffet will keep you full til dinner. Huge expanse of flat beach. Three sparkling pools. Curtious, attentive front desk. Diego, one of the managers, is terrific and has your vacation needs as his first priority. Surf lessons through Jose on the beach with Pura Vita The surf lessons were terrific. The instructors are friendly, attentive, responsible young men. Definately reccomend going thru Jose for your surf lessons, rentals tours etc...No hassel no hustle Cant wait to go back!!

I didn't stay here, but dined at the beach-side restaurant twice. The food is ok- not fantastic- and the prices are your standard over-priced hotel rates. The platos tipical are pretty good, and the paella is too. The problem is really the service. The waiters are friendly, but it takes forever to get anything after ordering. That goes for water, drinks, wine, anything. But it is one of the few 'fancier' places to eat lunch in Tamarindo- and you can't beat the view.

First time staying in Tamarindo proper. Usually rent a house across the estuary in Playa Grande. This was a great experience. We rented a condo in the Diria condo area above the fantastic pool with swim up bar. Had all the amenities of the resort but had ou own kitchen for meals if we wanted.

Room Tip: Go to VRBO.com to find condo's in the area..

We may be spoiled, as this is our second time to the Tamarindo Diria in two years. Really had a blast two years ago, over Christmas so we decided to spend New Year's Eve here this year. The property still has a great beach, but is even more built up than we expected - the traffic in was horrendous with a 30 minute traffic jam to even get near the property. The pool overlooking the beach was smaller (and the water not entirely pristine by day's end). Our room overlooking the beach is nice, well maintained, but the washroom is cramped and the hotel supplies few amenities (no extra towels, no bathrobe, no bar foods to purchase and no hotel book with features). Very loud partying on the beach until 4:00 a.m. our first night and it's hard to get a pool chair unless you get up at 7:00 p.m. Still we are enjoying the great breakfast buffet, the beach and the incredible weather.

Room Tip: Beachfront you have access to the beach obviously, and the restaurants. However there is an amazing...
