We took surfing lessons one day, rented boards another day. Everything is convenient. The beach is clean with great waves but beware of the rocks. Check out the rocks before you surf or swim.

This beach is very wide at low tide. With the extremes of tide the water comes way up okay out. Surfing seems best at higher tide. Largest waves are at the river mouth. Beach is very clean and safe. Be careful of the drift as you get closer to the river.

Beautiful beach with a happening area all around, lots to do, good shops. but quite a lot of peddlers bothering us while we were having lunch on the beach

If you are vacationing (or living) anywhere near Tamarindo, I had the best massage ever by a young local woman and the price was incredible: $40 for 60 minutes (the local property managers and massage places will charge you $60-$75 for an hour). Her name is Aleyda and she does the massages on the beach where you can hear the ocean waves. Her local Costa Rica phone number is 8638-0281. She is excellent.
