“Clean and not crowded”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

Beach is clean, safe and not crowded, even during high season. Overall, liked the beach and the area. Several of the activities we planned were disappointing. We read that there was good snorkeling near hotel Daria. There is NO snorkeling in Tamarindo. The Leatherback turtles are also gone.

“A surfers pardise”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

The beach in Tamarindo obviously is a surfers paradise with the great surf break. But also it is just a great beach for walking or swimming. The low tide makes the beach expanse huge and very easy to walk from one end to the other about 2.5 km.
the sand bottom extends out quite a ways and so makes going in for a swim quite easy as well. The beach area does have some volcanic rock outcropings so one has to be careful in these sections but there is lots of beach without the rocks as well.
Generally seemed safe, people even were walking it at night to get to the beach front restaurants.

“Popular surfing beach, great for all ages.”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

Whether you are a hard core surfer, a beginner, or just a casual observer, this is the beach to visit. Besides getting to see some world class surf you can swim close to shore or take a long walk along this 1 mile stretch of sand. Hungry, no problem as there are a variety of restaurants directly on the beach so you don't have to miss any of the action.

“Surfing Beach”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

We stayed at Witch's Rock on Tamarindo Beach. This is a crescent shaped beach that goes for quite a way. Directly in front of this property - there are no rocks and the surfing is very good. A bit further down toward Diria Beach Hotel, it gets rocky. The water not completely clear so snorkeling may not be good. The beach is great to walk on and when the tide is out - it is very wide. People in Costa Rica love their dogs and there are plenty to be seen having fun in the surf or running on the beach. No one has their dogs on a leash - they all seem well trained and well cared for.

There are some lovely places where you can rent a chair for the day if you wish. Go and enjoy!
