“exactly what I was looking for.”
Reviewed March 2, 2012

I stayed at Hotel Mahayana for a week, it had exactly what I was looking for. New comfortable bed, AC, hot water, perfect internet, all in a safe quiet area close to the beach. The new owner Cecile is awesome and will make you feel safe and at home.

You cant beat it at for the price! I will be back for sure.

Thanks

This Hotel is very clean and affordable. It has air conditioning and clean bathrooms. There is also a useful kitchen. The owner, Cécile, is very helpful. She took me on a tour of the town around the hotel to show my where the beach was, stores, good restaurants, bars, etc. She also has guides which you can borrow.

Hotel Mahayana was very clean and affordable. It is walking distance to the beach yet tucked away from the bustle of downtown Tamarindo. It is quiet at night and the beds are very comfortable. By far the best element of the hotel is the incredibly friendly Cecile who will recommend a favorite restaurant and make sure your stay is memorable. I am already planning my trip for next year! Thanks Cecile.

My husband, 3y old son and I stayed here in February 2012 for 3 nights. Our room had a full size bed (they added a mattress for our son), bathroom (great shower), a little fridge and a small closet. There is a common kitchen and lounge area outside, which is awesome if you want to make yourself breakfast, lunch or dinner. The place is very clean and quiet.

The owner, Cecile, is very nice and helpful. She can give information about places to go/ eat and transportation/taxi who charges reasonable prices!!!

I'd recommend staying here especially if you are young, a couple or even if you have kids you can rent 2 rooms.

Price is great and location very convenient. It is very close to the beach (+- 10 min walk), restaurants (great pizza place close by) and grocery stores.

We will definetely stay there again if we go back to Tamarindo!!!!

My sister and I stayed here in February 2012 for 3 nights. It is a short walk from town and the beach but nice because it is out of the bustle and noisy weekend nights of Tamarindo. Our room was adequate - two beds, closet, bathroom and a little fridge (really appreciated this) and there is a common kitchen and lounge area outside, which is awesome if you want to make yourself breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The owner, Cecile, is very kind and helpful. Ask her for advice about tour guides since it is easy to pay for overpriced tours in town.

I'd recommend staying here especially if you are young, a couple or a group of friends.

I ended up staying 3 weeks at this wonderful little hotel. There are only six rooms in this hotel,
1 twin 1 quad and 4 doubles. The beds are realy nice and comfy. The showers are also realy comfortable. In hostels the showers sometimes are of lesser quality. I always need a good shower.
Hotel Mahayana is only 3 month old so everything is "fresh". Every room has it's own frigde so you can keep your grosseries cold until you make breakfest, lunch or dinner in the charming little bamboo kitchen on the patio outside your room. On the patio you can also cool down in the jacuzi when the heat of Tamarindo get's to you. And belive me Tamarindo get's hot, Hot!
In the kitchen you'll find a coffee maker, microwave and a 4 plate's stove, all you need of pots and pans.. Outside every room there is a table for enjoying a silent evening at home. Hotel mahayana is located in a quiet little spot just outside the noisy centro, but still just 5 minutes away from the beach, restaurants and nightlife. Remember to ask Cecilie about the shortcut.
Cecile (Skippy), what can i say. She is the exelent host, always there when you need something. She is a wonderful person giving the place a realy nice vibe.
To sum it up, this hotel gives great value for your money. For a budget/backpacker traveler this is the choice you should make in Tamarindo.
