Great zip line experience! The guides were very helpful and attentive. One of them was very knowledgable about every point-and-shoot made. He took my camera and took great action photos and videos on it. True to the name, we did share a tree or two with some groups of Howler Monkeys! Regarding safety, you do have to pay attention, but our guides never let anyone go anywhere or do anything until they were secure. Couple of tips: You can book this on your own by simply calling them and driving out there - about 20 minutes from Tamarindo. They have road signs that are easy to follow all the way there. I think it was about thirty dollars per person, not including tips. You can book it through an Adventure Tour company if you don't have a car, or aren't comfortable driving about. It's about five bucks more per person- well worth it if they pick you up at your hotel. (much cheaper than a taxi!) The tour groups are often small - about 6-8 people. If you go on your own, take cash. They accept credit cards, but the day we were there, the card machine was broken. It would have been frustrating to have to find an ATM nearby. Snacks, fruit, and water are all available on site, and the grounds are very inviting if you want to lounge about for a while. There are areas for kids to play if they don't want to go on the tour, but hopefully, they'll take the leap!

“Great time. Guides are awesome.”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

We have been on many canopies and this one has to be one of the best. We loved the rope swing and going upside down on the canopy.

“Our first zipline experience!”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

I was nervous when I booked our first zip line experience for our trip to Costa Rica. The review for Monkey Jungle were positive so felt comfortable booking for our family of three, including a a16 year old. We were not disappointed. We felt very safe with our two guides. One of them took control of the camera and we were very happy with our pictures and videos! If you are an extreme thrill seeker, these lines are fairly short and not too steep, but perfect for first timers and families. Highly recommended!

“Great Fun!”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

We had a group of about 19 people, and everyone had a great time. The guides were friendly, professional, and were very safety conscious. Our group ranged from 2 very young kids to my parents (in their late 50's). We all had a lot of fun (even the people afraid of heights). The end has a really run rope swing, followed by cold water and fresh fruit. This would be really fun in the rainy season with all the foliage. We even saw some monkeys!

“Beware-Severly lacking in safety measures”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

We visited "New Monkey Jungle" on Monday, March 4th. We were a group of 8 (3 adults; 2- 16 year old girls and 3- 12year old boys. We had two guides with very weak English language skills; no communication between them and seriously lacking in safety measures.
On the very first zip line; we were told not to brake as it was long and in order to get a cross; it would not be necessary. If there was a need to brake; we were told the Guide would give the signal. My daughter (16 year old) and her best friend were sent across; the prior two riders were not yet released from their harnesses. The guide receiving the riders was not focused; he was not ready for the incoming riders; threw a ring to try to stop them and jumped from the platform; leaving the girls to crash into the platform and hanging from their harnesses like bloody rag dolls. (This is all captured on video by the 12 year olds and their go-pros). My daughter sustained a gash to her head; her friend had a bloody nose and the guides were not prepared for this or any other emergency. They had no radio communication to base camp or communication between the guides. There was no direction given once we were able to get down to an emergency clinic and the first aid kit was seriously lacking. We were lucky to get to a private clinic and my daughter's head required 5 stitches. In the future; I would ask any zip adventure; the procedures for stopping; the communication between guides and the base camp and check out the first aid kit and emergency procedures they have in place.

We really regret what happened and sincerely apologize. We also regret our mistake in accepting to do the tour after you insisted to do it at this late hour, without your party having a reservation and with that much wind. For all those reasons the misfortune happened: Part of our staff went home already, the wind turned at that precise moment and our bus was bringing home our supposed last clients of the day. As you can see on Tripadvisor, our tour has been very much appreciated by all our other guests; therefore we have been the #1 tour in Tamarindo since we started operation. Nevertheless we want to express our gratitude for expressing your thoughts about our tour. This will help us in the future to better our service and not take wrong decisions any more
