Everything that has been written about Villa Andalucia is true. My partner & I have our favorite vacation places that we don't share too often, so that they won't become too busy and unavailable to us. This is one of those special finds. Your hosts Garry & Jolene are the best feature of the Villa. Warm, caring and wonderful conversationalists. They go above and beyond to make your stay special. Of course, much has been written about Maria's superb breakfasts. We stayed for one week on the ocean in a beautiful home, but the value for the money at Andalucia was far superior. Maria even washed, dried and folded a load of laundry for us a mere $5 - a nice service when you are staying for more than a week. Jolene has a gift for decorating and her home, courtyard/pool area and guest rooms are beautifully decorated. Fresh, exotic, local floral arrangements decorate the rooms. I am particular about sleeping on a good mattress and it plus the linens were top quality. Having hosts who tour you about town, give you valuable local knowledge and befriend you is not just a vacation but a gift and one of life's lovely surprises.

My partner and I spent 4 short days at Villa Andalucia in Jan. 2011 and it was everything that all the previous raters said it was. Gary and Jolene were the easiest people to get to know and even in only a short time with them, we were impressed and touched by their attention to detail, their open-heartedness, and their genuine goodness as people and as hosts. Before coming to Tamarindo we had stayed at the Samara Treehouse Inn -- in a beautiful, near perfect "treehouse" right on the beach in Samara, and I worried that we'd used up our travel mojo at the Treehouse Inn -- that the Villa Andalucia couldn't possibly be better. But it WAS! It was the warmth of Gary and Jolene's home, the beautiful decor, the easy way they made us feel in their home, their gracious loan of beach chairs and boogie boards and bicycles, the hammocks and talk and advice they provided, and the meals Maria cooked for us -- all of it made the Villa Analucia the most perfect way to ring in a new year that I could ever imagine. After this trip we are reluctant to plan another, anywhere. How can we ever find an experience like we had in Tamarindo? Thank you Gary and Jolene. We're coming back! Bonnie & Kim

I spent a lot of time researching places in Costa Rica (not just Tamarindo) because this trip had to be very special. I was just returning from 4 months overseas and was planning on proposing to my girlfriend as we spent some much needed time together. So yes, my expectations for this trip were very high. Besides Tamarindo, which is a great place for anyone from the most adventurous to the relaxing beach goer, Gary & Jolene have a gem of a place in Villa Andalucia. Everyone says they make you feel like they're at home, well I think it's better than that. I don't know anyone that gets a breakfast like that every day. But I do understand why those that have stayed here before said they felt like they were with family. Gary & Jolene are the nicest and most gracious hosts. From the time we met them and went on Gary's tour of Tamarindo to the time we left they were perfect. They were friendly all the time; helpful when we needed their advice on tours, restaurants, desserts, etc.; and yet somehow knew when to let us have our alone time. My now fiance and I haven't stopped raving about Villa Andalucia and Tamarindo since we left. So yes, I would definitely recommend their place for a romantic getaway for two or for two couples to take advantage of both of their guest villas. You won't be disappointed.

My wife and I made our first trip to Costa Rica this January, and we enjoyed a providential stay with Gary and Jolene at Villa Andalucia. Gary and Jolene were incredibly welcoming and warm hosts - we were treated to a tour of Tamarindo with Gary when we first arrived, and we received help arranging our activities while we were there. Further, we received a first-class breakfast every morning compliments of their wonderful cook Maria. The room itself we stayed at was beautifully appointed and comfortable. Finally, there were many other details such as bikes, boogie boards, a pool, hammocks, etc. which contributed to our great vacation.

We would heartily recommend staying with Gary and Jolene - Tamarindo itself was a great experience, but our vacation was especially enhanced by staying at Villa Andalucia.

Wow, wow, and wow. You know how sometimes you forget that there are still things that go beyond your wildest expectations? Well, Villa Andalucia and Jolene and Gary will go FAR beyond your wildest expectations and make your Costa Rica trip, as we call it, the trip of a lifetime. Where to start? Well, it could the hug that Gary greeted us with when we pulled in, or the fact that he immediately took us on a tour and showed us the best beaches and restaurants in Tamarindo so could spend time relaxing instead of searching. It could be the AWESOME space (it seems a shame to call it a "room") that is immaculate, beautifully decorated and immediately makes you feel calm and peaceful when you walk in. The fully equipped kitchen? The hammocks and chaises in the private back yard? The beautiful landscaping and pool and dining table? The boogie boards, beach chairs, and beach towels they provided? The made to order breakfast every morning? Seriously, if you want a beautiful, peaceful, warm, friendly, amazing place to stay, that we would have been happy to have paid TWICE the price for, you must book with Jolene and Gary at Villa Andalucia. We arrived as guests and left as BFFS!!

Ever go one of those special, special places and know that you'll want to return?? Well, this is one of those! With only two casitas, I hesitate to tell you that this place and the owners, Jolene and Gary, are a cut above the rest!! We felt like we were in our own private hacienda, as we looked out from our delightful apartment onto the pool and gardens. Our room was perfection. . .extraordinary furnishings, fresh flowers, comfortable bed. Our hosts made us immediately comfortable, sitting by the pool, chatting, sharing stories about ourselves and our families. As Gary says, "It's the perfect job. . .talking and drinking coffee!"

Maria's breakfasts daily were beyond compare. She literally will make anything you want and as much of it as you can hold.

While there we went on a horseback ride (with Gary and Jolene's other two guests )to two local cantinas, and it was a highlight of our vacation. Imagine clopping along on a horse, on dusty roads, over streams, through villages, and then having a beer and free snacks at a local cantina. Coming home the moon and stars guided our way.

Another night under a cloudy, moon-less sky we watched a mama leatherback give birth to 65 eggs. Magic!

And don't forget to go to Lola's in Playa Allenda. . .a 25 minute bumpy road, but AHHHH. . .once there you'll never want to leave.

I'm going to stop now or everyone will want to go there and next time when we want to go there won't be space!

We arrived at Villa Andalucia and it was so sweet and cute, but the best part was meeting Gary and Jolene. Seriously it was like meeting old friends. Gary got us a drink and said I will show you around the place so you will know where to eat, where not to eat and places you will just have to visit. It was great!!! Gary was spot on every single place he told us to visit and eat. Okay so he dropped us off at a place to eat because by this point we were starving, we ate, walked the beach, walked home and slept like we had never slept before. We stayed in Tamarindo for 7 days and we fell in love with this place. A very simple, easy, beautiful place to visit because you can walk anywhere and everywhere and the beaches were breathtaking. Non commercial and lots of Lava Rock, but the tidal pools this Lava made were so much fun, Mick and I would just go and sit in them and solve all the worlds problems- it felt like a bathtub!! We even found a house on the beach that we are dreaming of owning one day in front of our favorite tidal pool. Gary and Jolene love this place as well and are dedicated to every person who visits to make sure they have a great time, a safe time and a memorable time. They coach you very well every morning on the things you should and should not do while Maria fixes your breakfast. I would love to have a retreat in Tamarindo and Jolene would know exactly who what when and where I should do itAll the people we met and the places we saw were amazing.
