“Only regret is not staying longer”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

My friend and I stayed here for only a couple of nights, which wasn't nearly enough time to fully enjoy the comfort and splendor Casa Bambora had to offer. Joey is a great host who will go out of his way to make sure you get the most out of your stay. The shuttle wouldn't drop us off directly at Casa Bambora, but Joey picked us up from a nearby hotel and also dropped us off there after our stay.

Casa Bambora sits atop a hill and offers fantastic panoramic views - especially from the upper deck where you can watch the sun set behind the beach. In addition to the upper deck, most rooms have balconies complete with patio furniture where you can sit and enjoy the views. If all you want to do is lie down, enjoy the sounds of nature and read a book, you might be inclined to just lie in the one of many hammocks throughout the complex.

The town/beach is only a short walk away, and there's even a little nature trail that serves a nice shortcut. A flashlight comes in handy if you're venturing out at night! Casa Bambora is secluded enough to offer peace and quiet when you want to sleep, but it's also not far from many of the town's main attractions.

There are many more amenities that we didn't take advantage of. We didn't need to cook during our short stay, but there was a full kitchen in our room and also a communal kitchen where you can barbecue. Also, we didn't have to do any laundry. The pool area is clean and well maintained - in fact, I can say the same about the grounds throughout the complex.

When I visit Tamarindo again, there's no question as to where I'll stay - next time, though, it'll be for at least a week!

Joey was a fantastic host. Friend and I were traveling on short time for just 2 nights, but Joey was kind enough to give us a 2nd floor room for the shortened stay. He even went out of his way to pick us up and drop us off from the hotel down the street with all our luggage to catch the shuttles. After staying in hostels for 3/4ths of our trip, we decided for the studio apt style based rooms Joey has clearly worked hard in keeping clean and modernized. With our own private deck (2 to be exact) with excellent views, every night we watched the sun set with other patrons staying at Casa Bambora. Next to no noise being away from most of the main strip, the 5-10 minute walk to any of the bars/restaurants/shops was actually welcomed than more of an inconvenience. Just be sure to bring a small flashlight for the 'hike' at night. Plenty of hot water and towels for the beach and rooms. Didn't have to do any laundry. Make sure you take the time to chat with Joey about what's what. Recommendations from him worked out in our favor along with our own adventuring. Perfect way for us to end our trip to Costa Rica in style...

Casa Bambora was a great base for our Tamarindo trip. Located on one of the higher hills overlooking the bay/town of Tamarindo, Casa Bambora not only has a great view but is situated in a quiet neighborhood. The shops, restaurants, grocery market, and beach are a 5-10 minute walk. The atmosphere is comfortably laid back with free laundry use, a clean pool, friendly dogs, and Joey's local knowledge. He can also connect you with day excursions/surfing guides. It's fun to mingle with the other guests at the outdoor kitchen/bar. The landscaping brings beautiful birds. When we felt like cooking or having snacks in between meals the full kitchen in our room had everything we needed. When you add up all the little perks it equals a great value at nearly half the price of other local places!

I could spend my entire life here!! The view Casa Bambora is just crazy!! The rooms are clean and well equipped. It is close to beach, bars, markets (walking distance) and I really liked that this little comfy place was not in the middle of noisy Tamarindo. The 5 minutes walk is really worth it...it is much more quiet up on the hill !!

Awesome host, beautiful view from the roof, quick walk to the beach/town, all the amenities we needed, and really cute dogs. If you're planning on taking surf lessons, make sure to ask Joey and he'll recommend his friend Rodney who was a great instructor at a small price. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

Joey was an awesome host, the condos were clean and the waterfall/pool combo was sweet. There was a cool little trail that led up to his place on the hill with good views. Would recommend. Two cool dogs and a friendly cat also hang out. Plenty of hammocks. An outdoor kitchen was well stocked with utensils and we cooked a few meals on the grill.
