“Amazing hotel and destination wedding location!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2013 via mobile

We just had our wedding with 70 of our friends and family in Costa Rica and I could not imagine a more perfect place than Cala Luna.
From the moment we arrived, the staff were always smiling, attentive, and eager to please!  It is hard to even remember a time there when I wasn't addressed by name which made our stay so much more personable.  They really went above and beyond on more than one occasion to make sure every guest was taken care of.
The grounds of the hotel were beautiful and the villas were more than we had imagined. They were huge with plenty of room to entertain and the added bonus of your own private pool.
If you are looking for a place to have your wedding, I can promise, you will not be disappointed with this beautiful hotel and the service they provide.  I am so grateful for Connie, their wedding coordinator, who was in touch with me via email for months before we arrived, making sure to take care of all my special requests.  Our wedding day was more than we could have hoped for! The ceremony's location on the beach could not be more beautiful and everything from the flowers and decorations to the food at our reception was perfect! I promise if you are lucky enough to deal with someone as attentive and professional as Connie to help plan your wedding, you will have nothing to worry about.
All of our guests had a wonderful time relaxing by the pool and lounge area.  The breakfasts were delicious and much better than any other hotel where a breakfast would be included in your stay..made to order omelets and a variety of fresh juices every day are just a few of the pluses.
Many evenings we were greeted by the monkeys which was such a fun sight and every sunset (which could not be more beautiful) there were cocktails and appetizer samplers served complimentary by the hotel.
The bar/lounge area was a great place to hang out at night and our guests had a great time with Sasha, the bartender!
Basically if you are looking for an amazing hotel that has the total package, Cala Luna is it.  I am so happy that we chose this location for our family and friends to stay and celebrate our wedding!

My wife and I just spent five days at Cala Luna. The site is beautiful and peaceful, even the local monkeys are fun. The staff is outstanding, very friendly and helpful. The food is also outstanding and beautifully prepared with fresh herbs and vegetables from their own on-site garden. The chocolate and coffee symphonies were great desserts. The rooms are lovely and beautifully furnished. The restaurants, bar, and lobby are all open air and the extensive site is like an oasis of tropical beauty in a very dry region. Happy hour at sunset on the beach was always a lovely time. We loved our time there.

A very nice place. I was a solo traveler so what made this place memorable were the nice people working there. Anna is a terrific concierge who was very nice and accommodating when I thought I lost my wallet (turns out I had it in my suitcase the whole time!). Carlos at the front desk is the man. Behind the bar, you could not have a friendlier trio, Anna, Sasha, and Danny. Special shout out to Enrique, for the impeccable service and great conversation. And all the rest were great as well!

the very best service in all costa rica, we have been to 5 different hotels all over the country none have been bad, but Cala luna tops them all. We didnt want to leave. the property is georgous and well maintained.

Room Tip: Double occupancy means 2 bed not 2 people so if you are a couple dont ask for double occupancy

Ever since we remodeled our gardens two years ago with a variety of more than 250 different plants, most of them native to Guanacaste, we see how wildlife flourishes. The monkeys....they just love the flowering trees while the young leaves of the papaya trees are an extra treat for them. And the hummingbirds love the nectar in the scorpion tail flowers planted alongside the pool area. A real feast for the eyes. Ann Vervoort, Guest Relations Manager

Our son was married on the beach here and it was amazing. The staff was friendly, the service was wonderful, and they went out of their way to accomodate our every need. The food was delicious and the baker even made the wedding cake from a family recipe! The hotel itself is beautiful! The gardens are gorgeous and the rooms and villas are lovely.

We spent 3 nights at Cala Luna. The villa, which housed all 4 of us (2 couples), was spacious, comfortable, impeccably clean, and felt very private thanks to its own little pool and the lush vegetation. The common areas around the big pool were also really attractive, with well-maintained gardens - including an extensive herb and vegetable garden - flowers, birds, trees. The service, and especially the very helpful concierge, was friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were fresh and abundant. A short walk led to a lovely but rocky beach, splendid for viewing the sunset; a slightly longer walk led to a beautiful sandy beach around a rocky bend from the main Tamarindo beach. Access to the bustling, slightly tacky but fun town of Tamarindo was easy via a short taxi ride or a walk along the beach.
