Description: This setting could just as well be in LA or Paris; beautiful teak terracing, all handmade wood furnishing and the shining cobber from the bar and the lamps give that warmth and good feeling we all enjoy. The wait staff takes pride in being members of Team Coconut for years. It is their personalized attention that permits them to remember each client and their likings. Nowhere else will you feel as Welcome and Well attended as here. Every day the same words are repeated "The Client is the King". At El Coconut you will also find a truly professional kitchen where the main ingredients are "Heart & Soul". Who could be able to resist an Avocado filled with sauteed Shrimps, A Tropical Lobster prepared with fresh pineapple, raisins and ginger or not to forget the Surf & Turf even big enough to satisfy the hungriest surfer. Where else in Costa Rica would you find a temperate wine cellar of almost 1000 bottles? Nowhere that we know of. Our wine selection goes from the easy drinking Latin American table wines to finer selections such as Chateau Neuf du Pape, Penfold 389 and many more. Our seating capacity is more than 100. We are used to and truly enjoy arranging your special events; be that "The President's Club", incentive dinners, rehearsal dinners or weddings. Let us make your night that special night.

Thumbs Up for El Coconut!

El Coconut was probably the highlight of our holidays in Tamarindo.

The ten days of Christmas were spent with the family at the Diria hotel. El Coconut is only a short walk away and the ambiance, the service, the food …! This was high quality! My wife has some allergy problems. The first day we gave the hostess her medical card; everything was taken into consideration, my wife actually felt "safe" for the first time in a long time eating out.

We truly recommend this restaurant to everyone. They are often busy so better make reservations.

Everything was AWESOME here, from the open air seating, friendly staff, great ambiance, but most importantly some of the most amazing and unique food we've ever had! My wife and I were on our honeymoon, travelling through Costa Rica, and stayed in Tamarindo for 8 days. We ate here twice! Our waitress was very sweet, and the owner, Katharina, came out both times we were there to make sure we were enjoying everything! I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Tamarindo!

It's ok, a little over priced for what you get in comparison to the best restaurants in town. I'd go there if most other places were closed for the night, otherwise you can do better.

We were recently in Tamarindo in December of 2008 and we had been recommended to try El Coconut. When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty and we asked to be seated on the outside deck. (Let me tell you that we were dressed nice and not in beach attire) The hostess eyeballed us from head to toe and told us it was by reservation only. As we began to question the hostess she than said they only had one table left and it was inside at the very back of the restaurant. As we agreed to be seated at our table in the very back of the restaurant you can smell the incense burning and when it burned out, you would get a horrible whiff of sewer. It became clear that they burnt incense to mask the horrible sewer smell that lingered throughout their restaurant. The smell was unbearable and when we'd asked to have more incense burnt because of the sewer smell, the waitress laughed and rudely walked away. The service was horrible and they treated us like minorities. The food was good but the service was horrible and if you are sitting inside the restaurant you can smell the sewer. We will never return to El Coconut and I do not recommend it at all.
