Great location, poor food quality and drinks for such a high price !
Went here because the reviews were good & I'd never been. Needless to say, I will never return. Place was empty, but waitress/(co-owner?) made comment that not to worry b/c it was empty, sometimes it scares people off, but she had a big reservation for 9pm. I wasn't planning on turning around b/c it was empty, but maybe i should have!

Appetizer: Trio de Mariscos Ceviche. The Yucca fries that came on top of this were the best part, the ceviche was so-so (i make better at home!) and it was $11 for a martini glass full. We didn't get any spoons or crackers/bread/chips to eat it with and the yucca fries were thin so you couldn't actually put the ceviche on them

Drinks: I ordered a Mango Margarita to drink: ($7) it came out soooo sour that I had to send it back (tasted like a sh*tload of lime juice or sour mix). It came back diluted with more mango and triplesec. At least it tasted more like mango, not so much like margarita. And it even had some mango skin pieces in it. I couldn't even finish it ~ bleh
Shawn ordered Merlot~ smart choice, since you can't screw that up

Main courses: My bf ordered the Casado (typical Tico dish of meat, rice, beans, yucca, fried plantains, salad )b/c it came with a quality cut of meat, tenderloin. The portions of sides didn't even compare with other places for the price and were not as good as everywhere else we've been. As for the meat he was so excited for, they drenched it in steak sauce, and the meat (i had a bite) itself was less than appetizing. For $15 for a casado this was crap.

I got the seafood pasta (mussels, calamari, clams, shrimp). $25 for a plate, not much food. The sauce was good, but the mussels & calamari were overcooked and rubbery. No sides.

By this time, we definitely did not want to see what was in store for dessert, so we skipped it and got the check. $83 later (!!) we peaced out
This place needs some SERIOUS Quality Control & needs to drop their prices

p.s. We left at 9:20, and the place was still empty...so much for her reservations, or maybe she said that to keep us there

Oh, & they played crappy N*Sync/Backstreet Boys type music :/

Dear Customer
thanks for your review, it give us the opportunity to clarify to our customers some very important points. First the yucca sticks serve on the ceviche are not made for put on top the food that is why the size is not the size of a craker, a lot of people and places serve ceviche with crakers but we dont do it. Second the Casado your boyfriend had is serve with Prime Quality Ribeye Steak not the quality of meat you will have in another places were is cheaper because that sam reason.
A mango Margarita will be sourand we werent playing Back STreet BOys music, our sound system was down by the time of your visit so there wasnt music playing maybe was played in the next door bussiness or houses and being an ooen air restaurant you can listen sometimes other peoples music....And you have a fork to eat your ceviche, wich is allow to be eaten like that not necessarly a spon
Thanks

Very delicious and fresh seafood, fresh vegetables too. Loved the corn soup. Vew of the beach was magical. It's a little off the beaten path which we liked. Romantic setting. Service is typical costa rican leisurely, but not painfully slow like some others. Wanted to go back!

We went here for dinner special they were advertising. Appetizer + dinner = free dessert. Meal was ok nothing special. We had three different people tell us the dessert will be out shortly but after waiting several minutes we got tied of hearing all the excuses of when the dessert will be ready. There are several really good restaurants in this town that have good food for a good value. Our dinner was close to $80 and we didn't get everything we ordered.

You were our first thanksgiving customer at 4 pm, at the time for your dessert we explain you that we need it 20 more minutes for the Pumpkin Pie or we offer you our Cranberry cheescake, but you agreed to wait for the pumpkin pie. 5 minutes later you decide that you wanted to leave cause you wanted to see the last quarter of the football game, we offer you and extra soup to go or to take your desserte in a few minutes to your hotel but you reject bouth offers.
You are more than welcome to stop by anytime for a free dessert!
Thanks

Our hotel had recommended this place for dinner for some good seafood. It was a very quiet restaurant, but that could've been because it was November, and high season begins in December. Our bartender/waiter (who I assume is also the owner) provided great service; he was very friendly and very attentive to us. For appetizers, we started with the corn soup which was amazing (the cup was a very generous serving), and the picadillo which was a trio of tortilla with beef, potato, and chayote on top which was delicious! For our main entrees, I had the whole red snapper which was good (a little bland, but nothing some hot sauce couldn't cure) which came with some rice and plantains. My husband ordered the sea bass, and he enjoyed the taste. His order also came with rice and plantains (both were different from my sides--which is a nice touch because it means they aren't just giving every dish the same sides). We didn't order dessert since we were so full. Overall, liked this place...mostly because of how romantic it was and because the service was excellent. The food was very good especially compared to many of the other places we tried.
