“Great hotel in wonderful Samara”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

This small Hotel with 7 rooms is just perfect. Staff is so nice, rooms were clean and big, a small kitchen is available for everybody, pool great, hammocks to relax, perfect. We stayed there 6 nights and were completely happy all time. No other hostel in Costa Rica (we stayed in 5 different ones) was so great! If we come back to Samara we will definitively stay there again!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1, ground floor which was big and is maybe a little cooler than the room upstairs.

We stayed at Entre Dos Aguas for six nights and had the most wonderful experience. The hotel is located in a quiet location close to the beach, has large and clean rooms, beautiful grounds (including a hammock room, pool, and a common kitchen), and overall, it just has a really relaxing atmosphere. The hosts were especially helpful and gave us plenty of recommendations, set up any activities that we were interested in participating in, and arranged our transportation to and from the Liberia airport. You definitely won't regret staying here during your trip to Samara!

The property is right at the edge of the jungle and is covered with lush foliage and has a rustic charm. Our room was clean and inviting with an amazing stone shower. The common area was a nice place to relax and chat with other guests or the owners and their adorable baby. The pool was the perfect temperature and very refreshing. This hotel is a great value, and seems to be a bit of a hidden gem. Would definitely recommend to others looking for a great bang for the buck.

I have just returned from a trip to Costa Rica and spent 3 nights here (wish I had got her sooner from Montezuma). It has everything you need at a fantastic price. The other guests were a mixed friendly bunch with people staying for a few days or a few months. Great value and the swimming pool is lovely. You are a few minutes walk from everything (Samara is small no matter what the guidebook says).

Fantastic value, put it on your list.

I stayed in the Treetop Suite for about 2 weeks in February 2013 and had an absolutely perfect and wonderful stay at Hotel Entre Dos Aguas. The Treetop suite is superb, very spacious and well worth the price. My room was cleaned every day and the staff is so very nice. The grounds are an oasis, beautifully landscaped with a sparkling clean pool. As a single lady traveling alone, I felt safe and comfortable at the location of this hotel. It is on the main road in town, close to restaurants, bars and the beach but far enough away to come home to peace and quiet at nights. It is also not right on the beach which in my opinion is good because there are less mosquitoes. In fact, I did not see one mosquito at the hotel.

The hosts Brandon and Lilah and their adorable son Oscar are extremely friendly and welcoming. They were helpful and available to answer any questions I had and to help arrange transportation or activities. They are mellow and peaceful people, and it was a pleasure to have them as hosts. I met several guests who have been going to the hotel for years (one couple for I think over 10 years if I am not mistaken), another testament to what a gem this place is.

I loved my stay at Entre Dos Aguas and am definitely coming back the next time I visit Samara.

Room Tip: The Treetop Suite was amazing.

I spent four days at this little hotel based on the reviews on Trip Advisor, and everything you've read is true! If you are looking for a place to chill out in a relaxed, almost family-like atmosphere, then you will love this place.

The owners and staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Brandon helped me with transportation advice long before I was due to arrive. Their tips about excursions and restaurants are honest and helpful.

The location is just at the top of the main street of Samara, but since it's only 300m to the beach, you are practically in town. There is a bus stop steps away in case you are arriving by local bus. There's a small forest behind the hotel, so one evening there was a troop of howler monkeys playing in the trees within spitting distance of my room.

There is a beautiful little pool that is a wonderful thing to come home to after a day in the sun or at the beach. Also two shaded hammocks provide a great place to read or have a nap.

The rooms are rustic yet charming and unusual. The showers are made of stone and the bedframes and towel racks are made from driftwood - both adding a quirkiness to the place. Small touches like scented hand soap and incense are both unexpected and appreciated. There is no AC, but ceiling fans are adequate for sleeping. The cleaning staff do a great job and the rooms are spotless.

There is a communal outdoor kitchen, as well as a fully stocked beverage fridge that's based on an honour system. Prices are below what you would pay at a bar or restaurant, so there's no need to ever leave the grounds! Free coffee and tea is available in the morning. The wifi connection does not requiire a password. This all adds up to very much a communal and collegial atmosphere - all the guests I met were friendly and easy going. Divas and high maintenance people will not fit in here!

In a nutshell, the place is an unusual hybrid of small inn, B&B and hostel, but the owners make it work in a way that makes the place feel very comfortable. Many guests seem to return over and over, so the only downside is that there may not be enough rooms to meet the demand. If I come back to Samara, I would just come straight back here.
