We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of a fortnight trip to Costa Rica. We have been to Costa Rica a few times before but only once to Playa Samara when we were back-packing 7 years ago. Having decided we were in a position to stay somewhere rather more plush on this occasion, we opted for the Tree House Inn based on other tripadvisor reviews. We were not disappointed.

The photos on here really are exactly what you get! The view from the 4 tree houses is simply stunning. You are literally on the beach and the rooms have enormous open windows which let the breeze in. We stayed in tree house #2 and I'd request this one if you can because it had the least obstructed view.

The treehouses have fully equipped kitchens, a separate bedroom (complete with mossie net, safe and several fans), and small(Ish) but nice bathrooms. Below each tree house is your own private terrace with 2 hammocks, table and chairs, BBQ, and 2 sun-loungers. There is also a small pool which was very clean and refreshing.

If I wanted to nit-pick here are the only downsides to this place:
1)Service was not very good. Everywhere else we stayed on our trip we were treated like royalty and felt we had made new friends with the owners. I don't know if the main owner was away for our 2 night stay or if it's always like this (other reviews say staff were friendly), but we really didn't get a great experience. The staff weren't particularly smiley or chatty and it seemed anything they did for you was really doing you a favour. We were told breakfast was between 7-10am, and we wanted to kayak to isla Chora that morning (brilliant, btw). We needed to go to Isla Chora at low tide which meant leaving at 7am but we knew we'd be back before 10am. We even double checked the previous night that it would be OK to have our breakfast at 10. They said yes. Next morning we returned from Isla Chora at 9.45am, but when we asked for our breakfast the girl looked at her watch rather grumpily, then muttered something and huffed off to the kitchen to see if it they could still make us something. Anyway, that was that.

2) Breakfast was nothing special (after all that)! You get a plate of fruit, a coffee and juice. Then they alternate daily between eggs and pancake. It was fine, but again - everywhere else we'd stayed you could help yourself to more coffee / fruit etc. Whereas here it was rationed. Also, the juice wasn't fresh, it was from a carton which is a shame when there's so much amazing fruit around and only a few guests to serve. It's also worth noting that you should aim to have breakfast early as they put the plate of fruit out at 7am (covered in cling film), so it goes a bit warm in the heat if you don't eat until later.
All that said, it is great getting served breakfast on your own private terrace!

3) No air-con. Again, this really is picking because you couldn't have aircon in a place that is based on being gorgeously open plan, and they do provide several fans in each room. But is was very hot and so worth mentioning that this did affect our quality of sleep each night.

All in though, I would absolutely recommend this place if you fancy a little bit of luxury. The treehouses are stunning and impeccably clean, and you couldn't ask for a better location: the view, supermarket right opposite (great to buy a bottle of wine, stick it in the fridge and enjoy a glass from the comfort of your hammock whilst watching the sun go down)! Although you feel like you're in a secluded private retreat, it's actually right in the middle of samara and within a few minutes walk of loads of great places to eat. Try Esmeralda's for very cheap but delicious food.

We had a great time staying at the Samara Tree House Inn. We stayed one night in a poolside room and two nights in one of the beachfront rooms. I would definitely recommend paying a bit more for one of the treehouses if there is one available. It is ideally situated on the beach a few steps away from C&C surf school, bars and restaurants. You can't beat the views of the beach and ocean. We loved hanging out in the hammocks and reading during the day, going for a dip in the pool to cool off and borrowing the boogie boards to use in the ocean. A delicious and filling breakfast was served at our own table underneath our treehouse. The treehouses don't have air-conditioning but they do have plenty of fans so we didn't have any problems sleeping at night. There are also mosquitoes but there is a mosquito net in the bedroom. Overall, I highly recommend it. It's popular so book early!

We loved the tree house inn, it was perfect for our 10 day stay. This little inn is small but big on heart. The staff were wonderful and extremely competent. We had also decided to have a small wedding ceremony on the beach and everybody just made the day so special. Our room had flowers, the girls made a center piece and lots of hugs. We had breakfast every morning downstairs out on our patio. There are 4 units that have a view to the ocean and 2 units on the side that are still nice as well. We stayed in the ocean view, the windows opened up and we had a completely unrestricted view of the waves crashing on the beach. Underneath the treehouse was our own private spot with table, chairs, hammocks and loungers. Small pool in the middle of this oasis is a perfect touch. The pool like everything at the treehouse is well kept and a very toasty temperature. We were minutes from Samara where we could dine out or wander in the village. The staff also helped us when we wanted a tour and we were picked up right at the gate. Most of the tours are right in the area like kayaking and snorkelling. The ocean is warm and was fun to play in the waves. Our entire vacation was the best ever and we can only thank all the folks at the Tree House Inn!

I stayed at the Treehouse in October of 2009. I made my reservation by email and got a fairly prompt response confirming our reservation. When we arrived in Samara, everything was in order and we were able to check in to our bungalow with ease. Our treehouse had an unobstructed view of the beautiful pacific ocean - the huge windows open wide and you can let the ocean air just flow in all night. There were couches closest to the ocean with a table, where you could enjoy the view. In back was the bedroom with mosquito net and fans, from which you could also see the ocean.

Below the bungalows were 2 hammocks for us to use, 2 lounge chairs and a table and chairs for breakfast and whatever, and our personal grill. In the public area, the pool was clean and there were boogie boards to be used.

Esther and the other staff were extremely friendly and helpful - a pleasure! Breakfast is a bit on the light side, but tasty and super fresh.

I now live in Samara and suggest the Treehouse to all visiting friends that have a little extra money to spend. Enjoy!

You stay here for a few reasons but the BIG reason is the view from the beach view rooms - simply stunning. The rooms themselves are large and more like a studio apartment complete with fully equipped kitchen.... but did I mention the view?? So you are right on the beach which is great and there are boogie boards free to borrow if you want some fun in the surf. Samara is a small town so you can just walk everywhere in your flipflops. It really is a little slice of heaven.

If you get sick of the beach there is also a small pool on the property which is not so much for swimming but more for cooling off. Breakfast is complimentary and varies day to day (no choice but was always very good - pancakes, eggs etc).

Only downsides to the beach view rooms is the lack of aircon. We stayed in a pool view room for the last night and although it missed the incredible view... it did have AC to make up for it. All the rooms have mosquito nets over the beds and although the little biters weren't too prevalent in Feb, the nets are a nice touch.

Stay here and you won't be disappointed. I miss the view.
