If you have basic surf skills and want to improve or have never even tried to surf and are considering taking surf lessons, Samara is a great place to do it because of the mellow and consistent waves. My wife, who had never surfed, and I, with very basic skills, were recommended Skynet by our hotel and absolutely LOVED our day with Fabricio, a local from Samara and all-around good dude. Skynet picked us up promptly when scheduled, had great equipment and snacks, and Fabricio took his time to make sure we were safe and that we got out of it what we expected and more. We would highly recommend Skynet to anyone interested in surf lessons, and especially recommend asking for Fabricio. !Pura Vida!

Stand Up Paddling is all the rage now. We run Stand Up Paddling tours near the Arenal Volcano, but wanted to try it at our favorite beach Playa Samara -- AMAZING! The folks at Samara Adventure Company have great staff and excellent equipment. They are prompt and pick you up and then you travel in their "Jungle Limo" to a quiet part of the beach with very few waves. You get a thorough lesson on how to maneuver the board, a lifejacket and then practice a bit near the shore. It's a fun challenge to try to stand up -- everyone in our group was able to stand up, but a couple decided to just kneel and paddle which worked well, too. Then our guide lead us for about a 45-minute paddle toward the Chora Island. Getting on to the deserted island took a bit of skill, but the guide helped us out along the way so as to not break the fin on the board. Once on the island, we relaxed, had a delicious fruit snack and walked around to the side of the island to see the hill filled with iguanas. The sand is soft and pink. The paddle back for us was a little harder as there was a bit of a head-wind, but it was a great workout and we all enjoyed ourselves! Turns out the other people on the tour had a whole vacation planned by Samara Adventure Company visiting other parts of Costa Rica and they said the Stand Up Paddling was their favorite activity in Costa Rica! Highly recommended!

Today I took the 1pm shuttle offered by Samara Adventure to Montezuma. At $40 it was $15 cheaper than the interbus shuttle and they had no problem that I was the only one signed up for the trip! (most other companies have a minimum of people they need to sign up). I was picked up right on time and the trip only took 3 hours and was really easy. The shuttle was airconditioned and the driver pleasant and a good driver dealing with the occasional potholes. I was dropped off right at my hotel in Montezuma. Definitely recommend this shuttle because if you do this route via public bus it costs $28 and takes all day with a bunch of different changes!

We were fortunate enough to have coco as our guide for this fun sport. He took it slow w us and showed us how to paddle correctly without falling over. Once we got the hang of it the sights were beautiful and it was a lot of fun. Coco took us out to the island where we fed the lizards and ate some pineapple. It was definitely worth doing and I'd recommend it.

We were introduced to Samara Adventure Company after we completed the first half of our Costa Rica trip doing tours with Desafio Tour Company. Samara Adventure Company definitely lived up to our high expectations after our fantastic experience with Desafio, and our guide for our kayak/snorkeling and stand-up paddle board tours (Fabrizio) was a blast! He was super personable and very knowledgable about the area. The stand-up paddle boarding was amazing and extremely peaceful, which was a perfect end to our wild and crazy trip. Samara Adv. Co. took care of all the details for the tours and all we had to do was have fun! If you're heading to Samara, stop in for a few tours with Samara Adventure Company!
