Samara Trails is a is a hidden gem in Playa Samara. The 1 1/2 hour hike through the Werner Sauter Wildlife Refuge is a "must do" for anyone who enjoys viewing wildlife, walking in the forest, or great views. The reserve is home to various species of plant and animal species including howler monkeys, various types of birds, and coati's.
I ended up doing the hike twice; once during the morning session (at 7:30) and once in the afternoon the next day (at 3:30). We watched the sunset setting over the Pacific Ocean looking down at Playa Samara and Playa Carillo - the view from the top is absolutely gorgeous!
Mr. Sauter's nephew, Alvaro Teran leads hikes through the reserve. Alvaro can be reached via email - firstname.lastname@example.org
