“Order forgotten, no apology until much too late”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

We came for dinner with our two young children; we were quick to order. Luckily, our younger one fell asleep in the stroller which meant an easier dinner to manage. Unfortunately, our order was forgotten and it took us asking our waiter 4 times where our food was for him to finally acknowledge the kitchen had lost the order. Our appetizer came about 40 mns after placing the order, by then our baby was about to wake up. We then rushed to eat the main dishes to keep every one happy. When we received the bill, we expected some break on the guacamole, but it was billed at full cost. When we complained, the waiter said he could not do anything as the lady managing the bills would not allow it. When we talked to her, she said the owner had unexpectedly left that morning and she had no power to take anything off the bill.
The issue wasn't so much that we paid full price, it was that it took much too long to get an acknowledgment and an apology.
I would not recommend eating there.

Good food and service, right on the beach. Where else can you go for a nice dinner meal at around $50 per couple. A must to try!!

“Dinner on the beach”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

Our tour group decided to have dinner @ El Ancla on the beach one evening. We had 2 tables with about 14 people. Drinks were 2 for 1 - woohoo! Mixed drinks all around! The cerviche was really good! We ordered two for our table. Our table ordered the 2 mixed seafood platter for two (shrimp with the head on, whole fish, lobster-ish type). The other table ordered the same, plus a few other dishes. We got our food first, it was delicious! Enough to feed 2-3 people. We felt bad for the other table as their food took quite awhile longer. There were 2 stray dogs that kept coming for food...some people ended up giving them some food since we felt bad for them. It was a nice night on the beach and great time had by all.

Make sure you bring bug spray esp eating on the beach...and a flashlight as there are no lights on the beach if you decide to walk back. Ask the restaurant to call a cab to take you back to town if you don't walk to main street, which is about a block or so up. Cab cost $6 to take you back to the hotel.

“Good food on beachfront”

Very good food with an open air restaurant and tables out on the beach. If you are a seafood lover, their seafood soup is not to be missed.

“Our waiter was rude, food was good not great”
Reviewed February 18, 2014

Our server was very rude to my husband when he asked questions on the menu and seemed to ignore some of the requests we had that he did not want to do apparently.

The food was good, but not a great value in my opinion. I had the seafood stew which was above average but my husband had the fish special and it was just ok.
