This is an awesome beach. Great place to just sit back and have a couple of Pilsens on the beach. The waves are nice and consistent, great if you are just learning to surf. Check out Tico's surf school in front of the Taco Shack.

Make sure you bring your sunblock I walked around for ~30min without sunblock and was burnt pretty bad. Guess that's what I get for being a pale Michigander now.

Thank Cullen L

A truly amazing beach in Costa Rica- one of our personal favorites. The entire beach is lined by coconut palm trees and there are no big hotels, only a few small, unobtrusive guesthouses and hotels hidden by the palm trees. The waves are much calmer than in neighboring Nosara or some of the other surfing beaches - this beach is actually perfect to learn to surf or kayak, stand-up-paddle or snorkle. The sunsets are always stunning!

This beach is amazing! A half moon bay with a beautiful beach backed by Jungle. This is my 10th time to this area. I will defiantly be back many more times.

want to get the vibe of what this funky cool eclect little tico beach town is about. then you need to listen to Radio Samara. the musical vibe that gets broadcast from this little slice of paradise brings back the sweet memories of what it was like living there. where can it be found.....at the bottom of the samarainfocenter.com webpage. ~sway, groove, & drift away to this tropical paradise~ Pura Vida

We purposely avoided the beaches where most north americans travel to when in CR and Playa Samara turned out to be an excellent destination. Great beach restaurants and bars, lots of room to play on the beach, surfboard rentals on the beach and inexpensive. The waves were a little strong and inconsistent making the surfing experience harder than what we had experienced in Southern California, but overall a great experience.
