Playa Hermosa is a great area to get away and relax! The beach is nice and quiet and the sand is amazing. The sunsets are even better! There are plenty of really nice places to eat and drink on the beach... Aqua Sport, La Casita del Marisco, and El Velero are a few. Looking for really nice treat then try the "tree house" style restaurant Ginger.

If you are looking for a quiet low key beach this is one to check out. It is not populated with tons of tourist or activity. They offer beach side massages here, jet ski rentals and have a nice restaurant on the beach, Aqua Bar. You will enjoy reading all their humorous signs and swinging in their extra large tree swing.

Great beach, beautiful sunsets, some very good restaurants and hotels. No taxi service within the town or to other towns so hard to get around. It's small and walkable mostly but one end to the other is a bit of a trek especially after dark alone. After April some services are decreased such as food service. Great cheap massage on the beach. No beach chair rentals though which would be nice. You can use the chairs at a couple retardants for the price of a drink or meal though.

Lovely clean beach. Some surf. Calmer in the evenings. Shade available from trees. Only a few loungers with a couple of the restaurant. More well to do residents. Marginally higher priced than other areas. Beach massage is great and great value at $25 US for an hour. Some hotels available right on beach and more in walking distance. Amazing sunsets.

We visited on a Saturday in August, no rain just a beautifully sunny day! This is a q uiet beach with shade, has some activities, has a few walking vendors, clean, pretty, restaurants on beach.

Parking for about 14 cars on street. A local will watch your car. Tip seemed to be optional. We were approached by Arturo and Raymond when we arrived on the beach and one took us out to snorkel with his boat. He got in the water and showed us octopus hiding under rocks and puffer fish and other things that we would’ve otherwise overlooked. He also took us to a beach only accessible by boat. It was called white beach and they were little crabs with shells walking all over. It was beautiful! It cost us 40 pp, I noticed a couple students talked him down to $20 per person.

There was a really good restaurant called Aqua Sport down the beach a little on the left. It had a large swing for kids to play on and you could sit in chairs on the beach when you ordered food. We thought it was very tasty.

This was a nice beach to hang out on! There were lots of locals here but not so many that it was crowded or loud. Very beautiful little cove, especially around sunset.

We could bicycle on the beach - the sand is firm and brown / black. It is a clean beach with relaxed atmosphere.

This is not a surfing beach but it's quiet and relaxing. You can pick up a snorkeling boat right off the beach and explore the coves and other beaches.

Playa Hermosa beach is small, but it was peaceful as there were not many people around when I was there (Monday to Thursday last week), and it is not built up with huge resorts. There are very good restaurants nearby. The sunsets were incredible and changed dramatically before your eyes; it was impossible not to take your camera out. My only caution is that there are small jellyfish in the shallow waters. I was in hip-deep water, just beyond the small waves. I was stung across my hip, which felt like a little crackle of lightning, but of course it took a second sting across my calf, seconds later, to make me get out of the water. Other people were in the water and seemed fine, but I know someone else at my hotel also got stung. Apparently, the creatures are not jellyfish, but it doesn't really matter what their classification is, they still have the same stinging tentacles. Anyway, if you do get stung, follow advice on the web (don't use vinegar or pee on yourself) and go to a pharmacy. I didn't go to a pharmacy until earlier this week, when the bumps had enflamed further and started itching- apparently, toxins are still released after you have been stung. I was given antibiotic cream and tablets and they immediately took effect. I would still go back to the beach for the sunbathing and sunsets, I just wouldn't go back in the water. Better to take a dip in the hotel's pool.

We stayed at Sol Y Mar condominiums from August 2 thru the 9. The condo was right on the beach and absolutely gorgeous. The pool was very nice too. The beach has a sandy bottom and is so clean. There are 5 restaurants/bars that you can walk to that are right on the beach and they all were very good. We rented a jet ski, a private boat with Captain Marcy, took the Gauchipilen Shaman tour and the Tico 4x4 tour. They were all excellent. We spent 3 days in Manuel Antonio first at La Mariposa and had a wonderful time. It was a great family vacation!
