“Christmas vacation”

The resort was comfortable, clean and well run. We appreciated the meals as they offered a good variety of healthy choices that were well presented and enjoyable. The hotel could improve by providing coffee and drinks in the rooms. The tours offer through the hotel were on the high end of prices offered off site, so would advise doing some research before booking through the hotel.

Room Tip: Villas over the main hotel are quieter and typically have better views of the bay.

The place is great. But it used to be better. We didn't have to pay for the " velero trip" now we had to...
The bartender Daniel Cruz is Awesome, that's the kind of people you should have full time to be able to have costumers coming back for great CSAT...

The views from the hotel rooms are truly spectacular and they are positioned to see the sunsets. Each room has a substantially sized balcony where one can sunbathe, read and relax. The rooms are quite large as are the bathrooms with minimal decor.
We enjoyed the buffet setups for all the meals and found the waitstaff to be friendly and very efficient. A half cup of coffee or water was quickly spied and filled up without having to make any request.
There are shuttles that go down constantly to the beach and the hotel staff are happy to set you up with tours.
We will definitely return.

Room Tip: We recommend the 3rd floor for rooms.

The view was really something, the hotel facilities are just lacking for the price range, food was ok but with just a few options, almost zero activities you will spend more time in your room than at the other facilities,, the drinks were very good, this guy Daniel should be their full time bartender
The pools are small
There was an awful smell near the pool by the hotel rooms
If you arrive early be prepared to pay extra to be able to have lunch, first time that happen to me
snack bar was lacking too
No elevator for the rooms, good thing it is just a 3 floor building, but that have to be considered for some people,
It became obvious that they are more interested in selling their timeshare package than in keeping an all inclusive hotel
The sailboat tours was very good and again everything is saved by the amazing view of the sunset
but for that price you will be better staying at some cheaper place and getting the food from nearby restaurants

Room Tip: ask for the 3rd floor, the view is amazing

We had a very good experience. This was our first time here. The views were beautiful. The food was good. The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to accomadate you. The room was clean. The only thing that was disappointing, was the access to free internet in your room.

Sad to report this place was very disappointing. We booked ahead and this was our only time spent in Papagayo. After a long drive and tiring day, all that we wanted was a hot shower and a good meal. After waiting 10 mins to check in at the wrong hotel across the way (the signs are not lit and the streets are dark), we finally parked at reception and were 'greeted' by a security guard rudely demanding we turn our car around and back in the parking spot. Seriously? What difference does it make? We were there for 5 minutes! Unfortunately our first impression was representative of our entire stay. After we got checked in, we realized that the wifi was only in the lobby and there was a fee to use it. When we found our room there was no parking in front of it and no way to turn around, so we had to blindly back up a steep incline, park elsewhere, and drag our suitcases up a long, steep staircase. We finally made it to the room to take a hot shower only to find cold water. There was a coffee maker with mold inside but no coffee. There was a cute patio but nothing to sit on. We made our way back to the all-inclusive restaurant to find Italian food night. This was a problem for me because I'm gluten-free but I'm not high-maintenance and can usually find something I can eat with no problems. None of the employees could answer my questions so I decided to just settle on a salad. Along with my scoop of salad a large, crawling bug was plopped on my plate. I instead ate some corn and beans while was attacked by mosquitos and we headed back to the room. We checked out early the next morning. Breakfast was mediocre but the view was stunning- the only saving grace. The employees didn't seem to want to be there, a smile was rare. I would have to agree. Bad experience and not at all what would be expected of a four star resort.

The first time we stayed, we were in the hotel section, and this time we had a one-bedroom villa. Both are nice. The privacy of the villa is great, but you have to wait around for the shuttle whenever you want to go anywhere. That said, the view from the villa is outstanding and the lodging is fabulous. The staff are all great, particularly Taylor in the restaurant, and Gilbert, the activities director. We will be back again and again.
