Description: The "tropics" has its own style of enjoying food and refreshments outdoors. Lighter Meals and casual snacks (bocas) while relaxing in the delicious tropical environment seems to be a basic part of the lifestyle here."Hotel La Finisterra's" open air restaurant and viewpoint patios have all the ingredients to make this pastime not only possible but something you will remember. We do with panache! There is no other nearby restaurant with the panoramic, ocean and beach views that compares with the incredible views from "Hotel La Finisterra" the perfect place to take in a tropical sunset in paradise. This year "La Finisterra" presents one new menus and a new direction in our cuisine and restaurant style. Our cuisine is individually prepared using the freshest local ingredients by our professional chef and kitchen staff. Guest services are available in any of our dining area locations.

After reading the great reviews from trip advisor we decided to spend our last night at the number 1 rated restaurant. (2/16). The ambiance, view and service lived up to the expectations. Although we were on the later side and felt slightly rushed.
I having a gluten allergy was suggested by staff to try shrimp cocktail which I found to be mixed sizes of shrimp, overcooked already in the sauce. Similar to what you would in find jarred in the grocery store back home. My husband order the salad with gorgonzola and hearts of palm. Beautiful but over dressed. For dinner i ordered the Thai chicken which was fair, not bad. But lacked pizzaz. My husband had the frut de mar. The sauce was a burnt red sauce, the seafood was hard to identify other than the Manila clams. He found this to be a huge disappointment.

Usually we do not write reviews, but after our experience and the great reviews we felt obligated. We have eaten at other restuarants reviewed here and they lived up to their reviews.
We can only think it was the chefs night off, because it certainly is one of the most beautiful area restaurants. Again the service was great,

A couple recommended this restaurant to us and it was just up the hill from our hotel. The view was absolutely amazing - the beaches, the ocean, the houses in the hillsides etc. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the staff, shown around and were served drinks outside while we looked at the views. We never felt rushed and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

When choosing a wine with my dinner we were shown into the cellar to look at the selection. The service was amazing, very attentive and we weren't pressured to hurry and leave. The meals were a generous size, nothing spectacular but quite good. The only downfall was the price - expensive, especially when compared to other restaurants in the area.

If you don't want to eat there (which I probably wouldn't do in hindsight), I would definitely recommend a few drinks during the day or at sunset - the view and service is amazing.

We had delicious breakfast there and when the waiter, Laibe, found out that we are vegetarian, he asked his chef, Mario, to talk to us and plan a special dinner. What a spectacular dinner! We can't remember the last time we enjoyed a vegetarian meal in a restaurant that much, including the mean we had at Chez Pannise! Beyond meal, service was outstanding. The views of the ocean and the hillside were gorgeous. I heard the hotel is also beautiful to stay in. If this is how they treat their retaurant patrons, then they much treat their hotel guests even more special!

Had discovered this restaurant on Trip Advisor and am so happy we did! The service was incredible, always there but never in the way, very attentive without being obtrusive. As for the food...exquiste, delicious, well presented and very generous servings! The view was certainly breathtaking especially being there at sunset! And ohhhh so very romantic!!!! The wine cellar well stocked with a broad variety. How nice to be invited in to choose our wine! This is certainly a dining experience that will never be forgotten and it truly is a gem not to be missed in Playa Hermosa!

After a trip toward Liberia to find a restaurant, we decided to give Fodor´s a chance. We drove up the hill to a small hotel and restaurant which was empty, but gave us the most pleasurable meal of our trip. Forget the dirt roads and the trek to get there, this is one of the best restaurants in Costa Rica and a restaurant which could easily hold its own in a big US or European city. The ceviche was an explosion of flavor, the tuna tartar prepared Peruvian style was excellent. Some of the combinations on the menu raised our eyebrows, but once tasted, the artistry was evident.

Don´t miss the hotel here as it does not seem to be listed on TA. It offers lovely rooms which are clean, well appointed.
