Mamasa is a perfect fit for what is going on in Playa Grande. There are 11 items on the brunch menu, each with fresh and innovative ingredients. And possibly more important, Jamie, the owner/chef puts her heart into the food and it's apparent with each bite. Mamasa also does themed Saturday night dinners, such as Southern food, or Thai food. Innovation continues with her 4-5 course meals so that it seems like a special night every Saturday night. Playa Grande is lucky to have a restaurant like Mamasa and we will continue going there frequently.

Mamasa is one of the newest restaurants in Playa Grande and so far so good! Jamieson, the owner/chef serves up great brunch options using super fresh and local ingredients. My favorites so far have been the eggs benedict, granola with yogurt and fresh fruit and the homemade bagels and cream cheeses.

The decor is casual and inviting and the tables and chairs are made of tree trunks. Overall, a nice addition to Playa Grande. I will be back for sure!

We almost didn't find Mamasa and were SO HAPPY that we did. The food is SUPER FRESH and has amazing flavor and you can tell is made with care. The fare is light and the flavors are fitting for the hot weather of Costa Rica but with just a hint of nostalgia of home- New England. You'll find interesting flavors on the small, simple, local, fresh menu like lemongrass honey and roasted beet hummus. The value you get for the price is unbelievable and Jaime and Tony are friendly and have great advice on the area. The tables are locally made and are COMFORTABLE (not an easy find in this country) and there are whimsical jars with sand and shells to keep menus from blowing off the tables. IF YOU GO TO PLAYA GRANDE DON'T MISS THIS PLACE!
