We stayed at the Rip Jack for 5 nights. We had breakfast every morning and two dinners while there. I was a bigger fan of the breakfast meals; there were plenty of healthy choices, everything was uber-fresh and the coffee was outstanding. The view of the treetops and occasional wildlife gave it a cool tree-house feel. Our servers were all pleasant and eager to please, learning our preferences and offering suggestions after a couple days. Dinners were tasty and lovely to look at. I loved that our dinner server kept our waters filled and would place our napkins on our laps!

We visited this restaurant after hearing to good comments from people we met around town. For us though, our dining experience was a big disappointment. The ambiance is nice, but our food quality left MUCH to be desired. Our waiter talked up the Sesame Crusted Tuna which three of us ordered. While perfectly cooked, the tuna was full of gristle and ridiculously hard to cut through. The other person ordered a seafood pasta that didn't come with the seafood listed on the menu so it had to be sent back. The waiter was ok, but didn't seem to care much. For our liking, there are far better choices for dinner.

My husband and I went to Costa Rica for a vacation this year. We stayed at Playa Grande and ate at Rip Jack Inn Restaurant several times. What a surprise! The food is great and the service is good. They have a variety of food to choose from and their menu changes every few days. The servers are mostly North Americans and Europeans. Everyone is nice and friendly. The atmosphere is great too. In the summer, you can see the ocean from the eating area and trees with some flowers. Rip Jack is in front of the trail that leads to the beautiful white sandy beach of Playa Grande.

We had a bad lunch experience and stayed away for a while, but went to dinner on our last visit to Playa Grande and were so glad we did. The food was quite good and a decent value.

The food at Rip Jack is top notch, the service is wonderful, and the atmosphere is great. The little hammock is also great for the kids to lounge on while waiting for the tasty food.
