“Great food, beautiful atmosphere!!”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

Cantarana is beautiful!! It is an open air restaurant with a nice atmosphere. I think the food is the most refined of all of the restaurants in Playa Grande. I had the tuna tartar and shrimp skewers. They were both delicious!! The shrimp skewers had a coconut curry sauce, which I wish they sold by the bottle...it was soo good!

“Superb Breakfast”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Although we only had the breakfast, it was a clear indication that dinner must be outstanding. Sabine and Marco served us fresh fruit, bread, eggs to order, a wide selection of cereals and yoghurt. The second floor dinning room in the canopy was a serene setting for our meal. They spent plenty of time giving us advice about the area. On the way out we were fortunate to purchase fresh German rolls and pretzels from the baker who was delivering in his motorcycle sidecar.

“Ninth No!!!!!”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

My wife and I are seasoned travelers in Costa Rica. We have lived in San Jose for 13 years. We came today to stayat Cantarana Hotel for four days. The hotel later.......we ate at their restaurant tonight. Can't enough godd things about the place. Sabine, the owner and Roxanne were 5 star in their attention to our table. We started with a complementary egg and avocado mixture on toast. Great! We then shared a Caesar salad, pefect. My wife had the shrimp brochette with vegtables and a curry sauce that was delicious and unique. We think there was a touch of vanilla, coconut milk , honey and curry. I had the grilled vegetable and couscous. The presentation was ART to perfection. This restaurant does not deserve to be ninth in Playa Grande. We have been in the past to many of the top eight...Many of them belong under this restaurant. Open every evening except Saturday.

“Awesome food and great personal service”
Reviewed April 24, 2013

Marko & Sabine made our meals very enjoyable, they were so welcoming and shared so much of their time with us.
We had stayed in the area and dined there several times but would have made a much longer trip if we had to for this place.
The service and atmosphere were great and the food was some of the best seafood I have ever had, especially the Pulpo and Ceviche.
We will definitely return to Cantarana on our next visit to the area.
