I had been here 5 years ago with a friend and it was great. This time I went solo and I was put in a room on the ground floor, which smelled like the room wasnt clean in a while. Talked to the reception and was helped by a gentlemen(forgot his name :( ), he immediately offer me another room on the second floor, view was the parking lot but it was clean.

Room Tip: Try not to stay on the ground rooms (no shower pressure) or a room beside the ice machine, will make...

We were very sad to read your review and see that your stay was only "average." During the heart of the "green season" (Sept & Oct) it's hard for any beach hotel in Costa Rica to avoid the musty, humid smell in the ground-floor rooms. We do our best with constant cleaning and the use of ionizer machines, but it's a climate-induced problem that we have to live with. Our occupancy rates are lower, and the cost of electricity in Guanacaste makes it prohibitively expensive to run the A/C's 24 hours a day when the rooms are not in use--- not to mention our commitment to sustainability which means we try to save on energy. We do run the A/C's regularly to try to maintain good air quality; it's just sometimes not enough. Please be sure that cleanliness is a TOP priority for us. Thank you for your feedback.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but the staff was friendly & accommodating. Our initial room was on the lower level which is half way below the ground level, but has a patio & steps up to the lawn. It looked very nice & clean, but had a musty smell. We checked with the front desk & the staff upgraded us to he 3rd floor pool view for a small fee $15.00/night. ($45.00 total). However, the front desk also sent us a complimentary bottle of wine. every one was very friendly and helpful. The food was great, poolside or at their resturant & the dining staff was just as friendly & helpful. We enjoyed our ATV ride with Christian who was located beachside. He was friendly, accommodating, and not "pushy" at all. He made the "sale" with us, but as a pleasent surprise he also took us on the ATV tour to the north. It was a great trip. He stopped at different areas & let us walk around. We took a couple trails to great views. He never hurried us or seemed rushed. He was always looking for monkeys, of which he spotted a family of at least 6 & with another 2 babies on the way home. He still left us stop to see them & take pictures. Our ride was over 2 1/2 hrs. Thanks Christian- Michelle & Wayne- hope you read the review.

Jus got back from spending almost a week here with the boyfriend and we both had a relaxing stay. Our poolside room was a bit plain and simple and a bit outdated, but it was clean, cool and comfortable and it grew on me. I loved the hammock outside our room which I happily spent hours on reading. One thing I do wish was better though was the water pressure in the shower, it is very, very weak (and you ladies with long hair know what I mean). The staff overall was was very courteous and polite. We didn't spend too much time interacting with them being that we went out a lot exploring, but when we did need help they were always very helpful. The food at the hotel was a toss up. While we really enjoyed the breakfast plan, we were also glad we did not get the all day all-inclusive plan. The breakfast was always very fresh and a mix between American and Costa Rican food which we really liked. We had dinner twice at the restaurant but we were not really impressed with the menu and found ourselves fumbling between the pages a lot in order to pick something out. Keep in mind we are also a young couple on a budget. I recommend dining at the nearby restaurant Coco Loco at least once and if you have a car, head to the next town Tamarindo for food as well (I highly recommend Green Papaya Tacos!) The sunsets here were beautiful. For activities, we booked an ATV/ziplinng tour with the Flamingo Adventures group on the beach and we had a great time.

All in all, this was a great stay for a great value. The only thing I wish I had known beforehand was how isolated the resort was from any true "town" experience. That was a research fault on my part, but it was redeemed by adventure tours and a rental car. However if you're truly just looking to relax and have the budget for all the spa amenities on site, this is a great place to sit by the pool and enjoy the views.

Thank you very much for sharing your review of your recent stay; we always like to get this kind of feedback from our guests. You have our apologies for the lack of water pressure, this is an issue that we have been working on both through our own renovations and also working with the local water company (which has had its share of problems). Glad you enjoyed our breakfast selections, but unfortunately, you came just as our new menus are being finalized and printed; in fact, they should be in Arenas Restaurant and our Sunset Lounge by next week at the latest. We have a lot of new freshly prepared dishes at Arenas and a whole new "Tapas" menu for the bar upstairs. So hopefully, you will get a chance to visit us again and will notice a big difference in the selections and preparation. We are happy that you "had a great stay for a great value;" however, we regret we didn't "Wow" you enough to get more than three bubbles on your review.

we spent a week at the resort aug 31st thro sept 7th. we booked our reservations through a timeshare- interval. we had a decent size room with two full size beds but since there was only two of us we would have preffered a king or a queen bed but the hotel was not accomadative of that. all in all our stay was great. the rooms are alittle dated and under construction though that didnt really bother us since we spent most of our time either outside at the pool, beach or away from the resort. we had a great time it was relaxing and the views are amazing. the staff are great. after a couple days of having breakfast at the local restaurants we opted for the breakfast plan which was a great idea. we also ate dinner and several other meals at the hotel and we have to admit that the food was great. we like exploring local eateries whenever we visit a new place. have to admit that the resort had great food being low season the area had very little activity outside the resort.
all in all we enjoyed our stay there and look foward to going back, hopefully soon.

We truly appreciate your feedback on your recent stay at the resort. Glad you enjoyed our beach and pool area, and found the food to be great. We apologize that you did not get the room type you would have preferred, we do have a large block of rooms out of order for maintenance and renovations due to the low season. And you are right, during low season things are bit slow in the area, best time to come if you just want to chill out and relax and have our beautiful beach mostly to yourselves. We hope you do come back and see us again soon!

Traveled to Flamingo Beach Resort with my husband, our 2 1/2 year old and my mother in law for 4 days, Aug 31st - Sept 4th. We decided to go with the Breakfast plan, we like to eat at local places in Costa Rica, but we did have 2 dinners and they were PERFECT!! I had Mahi one night and Sea Bass rolls another, super fresh and deliciously prepared.
Yes, the resort is being renovated, they plan to have the renovations done in a few months. The renovations did not bother us at all, it was not loud or dusty. We stayed in an older room, everything worked, beds were comfortable, pillows were soft, which we liked. I'm sure once all the rooms are renovated it will be even better.
Staff was friendly and attentive.
This is a wonderful resort for all, but perfect for families with small kids since the resort has a kids pool that is completely under cover. Beach is perfect, super clean, lots of tiny crabs and snails. We live by the beach and love to travel to places by the beach, Playa Flamingo has one of the best beaches I have seen.
I can see our family staying at this resort again.

We truly appreciate your lovely review and thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience here at the Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa. We are particularly happy to hear your excellent feedback about the food. Chef Frank has been working hard on tailoring our menu to our clients' likes and needs, and to using produce from our own organic farm and locally sourced fish, meat and chicken whenever possible. When it is fresh, it tastes fresh! We can only agree that Playa Flamingo is one of the nicest beaches anywhere, and we sure hope you do come back and see us again very soon!

My new husband and I had our wedding at the Flamingo Beach Resort. In our planning phase we visited the resort to see where we wanted to have our wedding and within hours we had already fell in love with the view, the location, the staff, everything. After meeting with our wedding coordinator Juan Carlos, we felt so at ease planning a wedding from the states. We quickly switched from choosing a hotel to starting to decide on details of the wedding.

A year later we came back for the big day. With 20 of us spending 4 days at the resort everything came out flawless. All of our friends and family had great accommodations. The food was fantastic, from the wedding reception to each of our meals. I couldn't say enough good things about this place. I will be coming back again.. hopefully soon!

Room Tip: With 20 guests staying at the hotel for the wedding, none of them had a bad room, all were great, bu...

Came here for five days to celebrate the wedding of our oldest daughter. From the time that we arrived to when we left the service was exceptional. The 20 member party paid for the all inclusive option which allowed us to eat as much as we wanted without worrying about the cost. All of the bartenders were friendly, the restaraunt staff kept us fed, the concierge took care of details, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The resident wildlife, (iguanas, racoons, numerous birds) wandered freely about the resort and kept us entertained. The beach was perfect and we spent hours playing in the ocean. Since it was the beginning of the rainy season there weren't many people in the hotel or on the beach. It was sunny in the mornings and occasionally rainy in the afternoons and evenings. On the day we left we experienced a small earthquake and the staff were quick to evacuate calmly. I can't say enough about this place except that we would recommend it to anyone and we would definitely stay here again.
