Great selection with a New Orleans twist. If the meal had of been hot would've been really good but still very tasty. Priced very well, definitely worth a visit. Right in the middle of the main strip. Seafood is very fresh.

We ordered the fried seafood platter, however, the food was so overcooked that you couldn't tell what was fish or shrimp. Our daughter ordered the New Orleans Shrimp, and it was also overcooked and rubbery. We have extended family from Florida, so we know how seafood should be served. We also lived in the Galveston area for many years. We were very disappointed in the food. It is also a more expensive restaurant for the area.

My family decided to give this restaurant a try. I had the New Orleans style jumbo shrimp which was overcooked to the point of being rubbery. My parents and brother had the Papagayo fried seafood platter. They all said there was too much cornmeal in the breading, and it was fried too long. The side mashed potatoes were decent. The vegetables looked, and tasted, like they came out of a bag of frozen vegetables. To top it off, we had to ask for our check to be corrected because they charged us for a large bottled water even though we all drank tap water (which they refilled regularly). I give them a 2 only because the location is nice, and sitting outside was great.

Papagayo is not only a seafood restaurant, it is also a fresh seafood market. Behind the restaurant there is a seafood processing place that receives fresh fish right of the boat every day. The fish in the restaurant is always fresh and can be prepared many ways. Every day has a catch of the day special. It's a seafood restaurant in a fishing village, as good as it gets!
