“Looking for the "I don't want this trip to ever end" feeling.....”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

....I actually cried when the plane took off.

My fiancé and I spent 8 unbelievable days in this incredible country and Tomato played an integral role in our trip's success. We met Mauricio (aka Tomato) one night when we needed a ride to to next town over for dinner and from the first moment we knew he was our guy! We spent 3 days with him, traveled hundreds of miles and experienced the country from the eyes of a true local. In one day we went from beach, to rain forest, to volcanic hot springs and ended the day with a deliciously authentic Costa Rican meal. He made sure we saw everything we came to see and made this the best most memorable vacation we've ever had. It truly felt like we were traveling with a friend. He's someone you can trust and will take amazing care of you. He knows where to find the best of everthing, from souvenirs, to local fair, to the most exotic wildlife in the land. Not to mention he know everyone and will make sure you get the best deal on tours and accommodations.

If you want to Tavel across costa rica with a professional, friendly, knowledgable host call Tomato well in advance and book him before you go. We stayed at an all inclusive resort (big mistake) and we know 100% that next time we will email him well in advance and have him take care of everything for us. Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful places on Earth and with him as your guide you won't miss a thing. We now have dear friend in Costa Rica forever and we cannot wait to go back and visit.

Always,

Cory and Merrill

“Family Vacation”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Tomato Adventures combines the best of what a tour guide should offer: Mauricio is friendly, reliable, responsive, on time, respectful of your preferences, knowledgeable, great at spotting wildlife in the jungle and by the roadside where we stopped multiple times to observe sloths and monkeys and birds, well-connected, fluent in English and helpful in advising our three university-aged daughters who are learning Spanish on vocabulary and colloquialisms. We took two tours: Arenal Volcano and Hanging Bridges tour and the Cañon de la Vieja ziplining and rafting. While the weather didn't allow us to see the volcano (check the weather reports before you go although apparently it changes frequently), both tours were great fun and we learned so much from Mauricio about the country, Ticos, politics, lifestyle. Food on the tours was typical Costa Rican fare. Our driver Geordine got us to our destinations and back safely and quickly. Thanks Mauricio and Geordine -- Pura Vida!

“Great Experience”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

We went to Costa Rica from Oct 25-28 with friends to celebrate a 40th birthday and 21st wedding anniversary. We said we would book the airport transfers and a tour for the group. Tomato Adventures had great reviews so we went with them - we were not disappointed! Tomato was awesome - very professional and personable. All the reviews we read were spot on. We felt like were were on tour with an old friend. We booked the ATV/Beach tour - I would recommend this it was so much fun. It even included a stop for a quick beer overlooking the beach. We almost were stuck in Costa Rica due to Hurricane Sandy and had all agreed we would book another tour with Tomato. We didn't souvenir shop during our stay so Tomato made sure we stopped on the way to the airport. He provided the perfect mix of fun while still giving you details on the history/culture of Costa Rica. We have traveled extensively and this is the 1st time I have felt compelled to write a review. Make sure you ask to for the "Tomato Look"!

“Tomato Adventures - "The Greatest Ambassadors for the Guanacaste Province"”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

The Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica is nestled between the Volcanic Ridge of Nicaragua and the bright blue waters of the Pacific. Often referred to as the “Gold Coast”, Guanacaste is home to the ecologically pristine Gulf of Papagayo, quaint coastal beach towns and beautiful villages in the lush green mountains that surround this northwest portion of the country. My wife and I had never travelled to Costa Rica; but based on recommendations from Trip Advisor, we selected Tomato Adventures as our tour guide.

My wife started planning our December 2012 trip, back in August. She did a great deal of internet research, which lead us to a pretty comprehensive list of activities that we wanted to experience. Just a few email exchanges with Mauricio, projected his energy and excitement to show us his country! Tomato Adventures would absolutely be our Tour Guide. We booked private adventures 5 of the 8 days we were visiting. Every morning Mauricio or his friend George were perfectly punctual and picked us up at our vacation rental in a sparkling clean SUV or van, outfitted with a cooler of ice cold Imperial Beer and bottled water. Their fresh khaki shorts and white Tomato Adventure Shirts conveyed a professionalism and pride we did not see among other guide services we encountered during our stay. Each stop in many locations proved how well liked Mauricio and George are, as they knew everyone and engaged in truly joyful conversation with their network of locals.

We started with Sport Fishing, visited the Buena Vista Park, experienced the River Safari (Mauricio’s real expertise), did some beach shopping and enjoyed the beautiful sunsets. Jonathan and Theo captained our fishing excursion and shared the same enthusiasm, sharing local information and getting us ON the tuna. Horseback Riding, Volcanic Spas, Amazing Water Slide and Zip Line rounded out a full adventure at Mauricio’s Mega Tour of Buena Vista Park. The wildlife that we witnessed and were able to photograph, were right out of National Geographic. The River Safari is not to be missed. Mauricio’s vast knowledge and excitement turned a simple chug up the river into a true Tico Documentary.

We ended up not even renting a car. Tomato Adventures picked us up at the airport, helped us with a couple of grocery and liquor runs during our trip, pointed out the best shopping stops and was available for anything that arose. We cannot say enough about this great company. We have made new friends with everyone associated with Tomato Adventures! If you want to experience “Puro Vida” in Costa Rica, you must include Mauricio and Tomato Adventures, they ARE “the greatest ambassadors of the Guanacaste Province” and beyond.

“TOMATO IS THE BEST”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

Every review I've read is 150% accurate! Tomato is a wonderful person and oustanding tour guide. I highly reccomend him to every person that visits Costa Rica. He knows where to go and the best places to eat and will take good care of you...Regardless of how long it takes for you to reach your excursion you will be super comfy in his van...it's like being in first class. His seats recline, he has a cooler of beer and water and you get to relax and enjoy the ride to your adventure..I took some great naps! You are crazy if you choose to go with a big travel company such as suisse travel or any of the huge adventure companies. They are overpriced and just cattle you around but Tomato makes you feel like you are old friends! TOMATO IS AWESOME. My husband and I already miss him!
