We went there for dinner and happy hour (5-6). My mahi-mahi in pastry was average at best. The pastry was hard. My wife's mahi-mahi came with 3 tiny small round white potatoes and 4 pieces of stringy asparagus. We had 1 pina colada and 3 beers. This was happy hour the hostess had told us about in the morning.
The bill was $8 for the pina and $12 for the 3 beers, plus the normal 13% tax and 10% tip. When asked why the prices where so high during happy hour we were told beer was not included and the pina colada was 2 for 1. Since we only had 1, the price was not reduced.
As stated in previous reviews, this is a lovely beach location, with friendly helpful staff.
We suggest you visit during happy hour and always order mixed drinks 2 at a time.

We have been coming to Playas Del Coco for years and Cafe De Playa was a nice spot to enjoy breakfast in a nice setting. After not eatiing there for about 5 years, we met some friends for breakfast. My wife and I each had the tipico Costa Rican breakfast, rice and beans with a little scrambled eggs and a slice of plantain and coffee of course. I don't remember if I had looked at the menu prices before ordering or not and besides we were with many of our friends, what did it matter. Well I was shocked when I got the bill and it was $30.00 USD for the meager amount of breakfast! Of course this included the 13% tax and an additional 10% tax that is on everybill for the tip. But that is getting ridiculous.....I won't be going back.

The prices are visible on ours menus and our prices are based on the quality of our restaurant and on the beach front location you were in, I suggest you see prices before ordering in any place.
Cordially, Cafe de Playa

Spent a week in the area. Dinner here is fantastic; food and scenery especially. Get the asparagus appetizer. Best restaurant in the area, one of the top 10 we've ever been to.

nice beachfront location with nice chaise lounge chairs. The breakfast and the coffee are good. The timeshare sales pitch team in the area use this place as a draw for the resort. They tell you that if you come to a presentation they will give you a free pass to the restaurant and of course the beach chairs. The fact of the matter is, you don't need to go to the presentation to get this. As long as you buy something, you have full access to the beach and the beach chairs.

A great place for a sunset meal on the beach. We had a very enjoyable evening. Would certainly recommend it as a place to eat in Coco del Playa
