My family and I were in Costa Rica over the Christmas holidays and went on this tour with Amy from Avispa's Adventures. Amy took us to an area close to Lake Arenal called Tiluron. We stopped on the way at a small local restaurant for an authentique Tico lunch and got some Chicheronas to snack on the way. This tour is all about how average families in Costa Rica live. Amy took us to a home where the family made and sold homemade cheese. It was explained to us how the cheese was made and it was so good that my Mom bought some to take home. We got to meet the whole family and gave them a bag of apples and grapes which is a traditional Costa Rican Christmas gift. The next place we went to was to a lady's home who raises all kinds of butterflies. We got to go into the netted area with the butterflies and also got to see the different stages of butterfly growth. After we left there we went to Alverro's house, he grows and sells coffee and macadamia nuts. Alverro showed us the machines that he made to shell the macadamia nuts and to roast the coffee beans. We also got to watch his family making homemade tamales. My Mom took home tamales, coffee, and Alverro gave me a bag of macadamia nuts. I really liked this tour because it really showed my family how people is Costa Rica live in their daily lives and all the people we met were very happy to show us what they did even though it was the Christmas season. This is a really good tour to go on if you want to learn more about the Costa Rican people in this area. Amy this was super good tour I learned a lot. Thanks for taking us on this tour.
