“Excellent hike”

I very much enjoyed the hike through this park. We did not see many animals but the trails were gorgeous, as were the beaches. It is a longer hike, and be sure you are done and out by 3:30 to catch the bus, if necessary. I made the mistake of missing the bus and walked back to Montezuma, for a total of 19-20km walking that day (but it was an adventure in and of itself, and worth it!). Overall, very good experience.

We went too late and just did the shorter trail, about 90 minutes as so hot. The walks to the beach are around 2 hours and people we saw said this was amazing. Take your water, food and I would say be ready to start walking before 8am if possible. If it has rained it is hard work and slippy, beautifil location but you will need a good 5 hours to enjoy the full walk as 2 hours each way and will need a rest due to heat and to enjoy the beach.

The hike was great, but I would not recommend it for anyone who has never gone hiking. Parts of the hike were very steep going up and down and it gets VERY hot in there. We only did the first portion and did not go to the beach because we did not have time.

We didn't see many animals, just a pochote but it may have been to dry in the first part of the hike. We saw more animals outside of the park.

BRING LOTS OF WATER AND SNACKS like everyone recommends. We brought enough, but more would have been better. Great if you enjoy hiking, but not for everyone, unless you plan to head to the beach.

Not for those who never hike. It looks like a short walk and the km sound short....but the reality is that it is a butt kicker of a day hike. Bring water and snacks. The beach at the tip is worth it, sooo worth it....
and the wildlife along the way is such a bonus....howler monkeys galore!

My mom and I made the hike pretty easily, but I was definitely winded and drinking lots of water by the first mile, it all seemed to be up hill. There are some stepping blocks in places, but watch your step in other places it gets kind of slippery. We didn't make the whole hike to the beach because of time, but half-way through the short hike there is a amazing stream you cross. The bridge was broken so cross carefully but the water only comes up about a foot or two in most places and is flowing too fast. It was a great stopping point to get in the water and cool down, the rest of the hike seemed like a piece of cake after that. Huge trees and all kinds of wildlife, we saw lots of butterflies, bats, coati's (Brazilian anteaters), and capuchin monkeys. I would recommend that you carry a stick and wave it in front of you as to not walk into spider webs. The fee is $10 per person and you can either take a bus or taxi from Montezuma. The closest store is not close so bring water and whatever else you might need.
