“The best of lots of bad options”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

The rooms are affordable, nice and clean and that instantly makes this your best option in Liberia. But which hotel does not have hot water?? Also the tours are expensive and breakfast is not very good.

Dear client,
Thanks for taking the time to make comments regarding our hotel. We have been renovating all facilities and services during all 2013 and will keep working on this next year as well, our guests probably will find A/C and hot water and at least the superior category of our rooms.
We have checked the tours, transfers and other prices according quality and characteristics vrs other hotels of our category and they have pretty much the same rates. Our breakfast for example, frecuently is well recommended due we offer good standard options with different prices so the client can perfectly choose. Now, we have just started serving other meals during the day and updated breakfast menu in order to keep improving our services.

I stayed in a dorm room for $13 a night. The beds were neatly made up and the room was clean. There was no hot water in the shower but Liberia is so hot that I didn't mind having a child shower too much.

In any case, the best thing about the place is its restaurant. I liked it so much I ate there both nights I stayed, getting the day's special each night. For 3500 colones ($7) I got grilled sea bass in a white sauce with heart of palm and asparagus. The next night I got an awesome steak in a red wine and balsamic sauce. Although I didn't have one, the cocktails looked good too, and we're reasonably priced.

Hotel Liberia is situated in a great central location near the park and church. It is a beautiful old building and fortunately for myself, whilst mainly consisting of standard private hotel rooms they also offer some shared rooms for $10 a night. I stayed 2 nights and ate in the reasonably priced hotel restaurant once for dinner and breakfast.
They offer laundry service and the wifi signal is strong. Furthermore the staff are very friendly.

Location perfect, most beautifull street of liberia. Low prices, helpfull staff. Rooms a bit small. Relaxing music lounge area. Everything in walking distance. Café Liberia (the same street) is an athmospheric restaurant to eat.

I checked out this hotel a year or so ago and found it to be a little seedy; somewhat backpackerish. They recently completed a major face lift and did a very nice job. Everything is painted, the common area/restaurant is very pleasant, and the rooms are clean and present well. The parking are is right next to the entrance, the WiFi works well, and the breakfast is good. The fairly young staff is very pleasant.

I generally prefer a ceiling fan to AC, unless the room is very hot. In this case, the room never dropped below 85 degrees, despite some relatively cool and rainy weather. It made for very sweaty sleeping. Leaving the door open could help, but the mosquitoes seemed to find that to their liking as well. It was also very stuffy. The fan in the small bath did not work and there was no window there.

The common/dining area is a little like a concert shell - it projects sound squarely at the rooms. I asked about late night noise at check in and was assured it was not a problem. However, there was a gathering of people related in some way to somebody at the hotel that went loud and late. They woke me up at 11:45 and only dispersed when I went out to express my unhappiness. Given the temperature of the room, I did not get much sleep that night and cut my trip short.

It depends which room you get to feel comfortable. If you get one next to breakfast area and reception you'll have some loud moments. Further some rooms are located next to a parking place, so you can hear cars leaving and arriving. The shower looks great but is only having cold water. If you come from outside at night you need to call the hotel number, no night bell is installed. But the reception is open 24/7, the location is perfect placed in the center and not far from the fantastic bar and restaurant "Palermo"

This little rustic hotel is a find!! Affordable, clean, and incredibly outstanding staff. I was going to stay one night but ended up spending a week there and doing day trips, because i felt so at home.

I have never found any staff more accomodating and eager to please , in all my travels!!
It's a lovely little place with rooms to accomodate all price ranges.

I'll be going back!
