“Be sure to go on this with a guide”

We did this with a guide from our Hostel, he was a biologist and taught us so much about the animals and the jungle. It was really interesting, I recommend this but make sure you bring a guide.

“Get a Guide..Get a Guide...Get a Guide”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013

We found Arenal Hanging Bridges to one of the highlights of the trip. If we chose to not get the guide our experience at AHB would have consisted of a pleasant rain forest hike and, other than some ants and a bird or two, we would have seen no wildlife. Our guide, Indira, made sure that we all had the opportunity to see what was out and about that afternoon. She had an amazing spotting scope that gave us a up close look at of what was lurking about in the forest. We saw howler and spider monkeys, a wild boar, a rare sighting of a Mot Mot, a coiled viper and many others. She would walk along, stop, take ot her scope and voila!.there it was. There was no way that any of us in the party would have seen anything ourselves. Indira was outstanding! She guided us through 2.5 hours of trail climbing, bridge crossing and wildlife viewing that never grew tiresome. She obviously loves what she does and her enthusiasm was contagious.

“Not a great place for birdwatching”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013

The walk along the trail and bridges is quite interesting with wonderful views of the vegetation and canyons. It is not a good place for serious birdwatching. We signed up for the early morning bird tour and were rather disappointed in the outcome. There was little time to stop and search for birds or to enjoy each one that was sighted. Many were simply passed by. The bird guide was knowledgeable but was intent on rushing through before the park opened to the public. If you are interested in birding visit Arenal Observatory Lodge to watch the birds from their deck and to walk their many trails. El Silencio trails are a good place to bird, as well ( part of Arenal National Park) and you can either hike there on your own or take a guide. Eco Center Danaus and Arenal Oasis Lodge, both nearer La Fortuna, are good birding spots. All these places can be reached by taxi, if you don't have a car.

“Nice walk and lovely scenery!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013

We enjoyed our walk at arenal hanging bridges. I was alittle disappointed that a couple of the bridges were so short, but overall we enjoyed it. If you are over 60, ask for a senior admission rate of $19 per person. They don't offer and there is no sign showing one.

“Excellent family adventure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013

My family two children 10 & 12 and two adults had a great time exploring the Hanging Bridges. The walk was not strenuous and the perfect length. We saw abundent wildlife including spider monkeys, snakes and nosebears as well as birds, bugs and beautiful flora. The bridges were breathtaking especially for me as I have a fear of heights. However, no regrets would go again in an instant. Would reccommend hiring the guide as we felt we would have seen and learned more. Had a fabulous lunch in the restaurant on the premises and would rate it as one of our best meals.
