I stayed three nights here with my sister, and we had a great time. It is beautifully designed with landscaped paths to the pools, rooms, etc. and little wooden iguana lanterns all over. Very pretty at night. Our room had a wonderful view of the volcano, it was incredibly quiet at night. The birds will tend to get you up in the morning though - very exotic sounds.

There's a pretty little gift shop, and the spa is very nice. The massage rooms are down a path and are separate huts with fireplaces - such a wonderful atmosphere. We did the hike on the property - there are several little bridges, and it is a little challenging, so don't try it in flip flops! The maze has not been kept up - would love it see it when it is - what a fun idea!

It's pretty far from town, and the shuttle is infrequent, so you may have to take a taxi to go there, but honestly, there's not much in town. Take a tour if you don't have a car to get to the zipline, etc., as they will pick you up from the hotel. However, we were able to walk back down from the hanging bridges, since the hotel was so close. We didn't try to walk up to them - it was a little steep, and the staff gave us a ride.

The staff was very helpful, but could not always accommodate little things like change, didn't always anticipate needs in the room, etc., but were able to to accommodate bigger needs. Loved the restaurant staff, and breakfast was really nice. Fruit, omelets made to order, eggs, sausage, Costa Rican specialties (rice, beans, fried plantains, vegetable/potatoes combinations), juices, etc. Could not imagine a better breakfast buffet.

It is a little remote, but what a wonderful location to just relax and enjoy the scenery. We probably paid more than most for our room, since we didn't shop around and went through a booking service, but still the value wasn't bad. Overall a very nice experience - it depends on what you're looking for, but we loved it.

Room Tip: From what I could tell, all the rooms had a view of the volcano, which is one of the biggest attraction to being here.

This hotel has a fantastic view of the volcano and that's pretty much where the list of "Pros" ends. The menu at the hotel restaurant was boring American food and tasted mediocre at best. The breakfast was awful.

DO NOT reserve any sort of trip, hike, etc out of their little menu of things to do. It's a waste of money and you can either find something better through a different company or go do something for free that's far better. The guided hike on the suspension bridges was an absolute joke. Just go to the bridges yourself and pay the park fee; it's much better.

Sure, you can sit by the pool and drink terrible beer from the bar or go to the spa, but who would go to Costa Rica for just that??

Disappointed in service and lack of caring at this hotel. Food and bar service mediocre at best
FAR from town so expect high can rideas and an extra charge for transportation for excursions
Living in Las vegas, among some of the best reosrts in the world, I will say these folks missed the mark.

This place is great for about 10 mins. The view is amazing. But once you get past that...it soooo boring. Its a long way from anywhere.
There are great hiking trails in the jungle right out of your room but most people seem to sit at the bar or spa all day.
Very uninteresting restaurant and menu. Eggs and hot dogs for breakfast.
The staff has no interest in helping out. They double the price of all the tours if you book out of the hotel and give no insight on places to visit if they can't sell it to you.

Sweet little resort tucked into the hills. Great activities for the family all around and the view of Arenal is fabulous.
The breakfast that's included isn't the best -- but we didn't come for the food.
Would recommend a stay here - it's a fun place.
