It was both magical and relaxing! Everything about this resort was beautiful. Amazing views, modern rooms, intimate setting and delicious food. If it wasn't so remote I would visit every trip to Costa Rica. It's a definite must at least once if you are ever near La Fortuna!!!!!

I am a local and have seen many of the other hotels in the area and found Mystica simply so different and relaxing! Many little details make you feel as if you are in your own "finca-house", the service was very friendly and the food, specially the breakfast with home made bread and marmelade, was excellent. The gardens are beautiful. We only missed the hike to the Ceiba tree because it had rained a lot and the trail was very muddy.
I truly recommend the place to get away from the stress and to enjoy the fantastic view.

The food was good but limited choices. The managers were great! The rooms were average and no AC. I had a massage in a tree house which was cool. There were ten of us traveling together and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. The view was spectacular!

Room Tip: All the rooms I saw were comparable. All one floor.

We stayed 5 nights, 2 adults and 2 children, payed 150 US dollar tax included for a bungalow ( low season).

Positive; the place, garden, view over lake and volcano, the playground for kids, the food, the staff, the yoga place, the pool, breakfast very rich and feels homemade, the bungalow with a hammock, small kitchen, relaxing,no tv and Internet in bungalow, baby cod, dinners, we had all dinners here, also the dessert we were happy with it. The dining area feels very clean. Coffee is good.

Negative; if you look for wi-fi and tv in room it's not here. For us the most annoying thing was the aunts inside the bungalow, if you spill anything on the floor aunts are there fast. Cleaning in the room it's not the worse, but I felt it was not done really deep. The wi-fi in reception was a bit slow at times, we could not try yoga due to sickness, had looked forward to that. A reason to return

We missed a small Buddha welcoming you in the entrance of hotel.

I would absolute recommend this place, and if we come back we will stay here again. We tried for first time windsurf in Tico surf,5 min drive from hotel, also good. Had Tom as teacher, nice guy.

Room Tip: We stayed in bungalow to have possibility to make some baby food, but the room are also very beautif...

Mystica was a beautiful way to start our Costa Rican adventure. Francesco was very helpful in making suggestions of activities to do, and very easy-going about it all. The vibe was peaceful and friendly, and the breakfasts and Italian dinners (which we initially found silly given we were in Costa Rica) were delicious and generous, and served in a colourful and cheerful restaurant by unobtrusive waitstaff. They have a beautiful yoga deck as well as yoga classes and massages but we didnt have time for that unfortunately.
We stayed in the Jungle Cabin, and loved the privacy it offered (and the outdoor shower). We were even awoken by a silly white faced monkey knocking on our door!
The view on the lake is stunning, and if you are as lucky as we were you might see numerous armadillos, a toucan, and hear howler monkeys!

Room Tip: Take the Jungle Cabin for added privacy and enjoy the outdoor shower.

We were only able to stay one night but I wish it had been longer. The owner and staff try very hard to make your stay enjoyable. The grounds are lovely with a panoramic view of Lake Arenal. There is a tree house massage and Reiki room and a covered natural wood yoga platform next to a brook with morning yoga classes on some days. Also a natural stone pool for a cool dip. The restaurant and lodge and the rooms could best be described as boutique, with a very comfortable and inviting feeling. The included breakfast is very nice. The restaurant specialty is wood fired pizza in many varieties, very tasty. If I am ever to return to this area, I would not consider staying anywhere else.
